So today, Cameron announced that women will be able to serve in front line infantry units. Is the man insane?

I clearly don't understand the issues as I'm not knowledgeable enough but so long as they can carry their own kit and can shoot straight what's the problem?

Hugo the thing some people are worried about is if women fall into enemy hands, the first problem is that most will be raped if captured, men being men will feel and act over protective of the females in their sections which would be detrimental to the job in hand. Not deliberately trying to be sexist but if you step back and think for a few moments it's just the way it is and men have been doing this since the human race appeared. Other issues include things like the carrying of equipment, will a female be able to continually carry heavy equipment at all times(think about that one ) not all men can either. On the other hand russia used female sections in ww2 to devastating effect, as did others. Personally i would rather get into a firefight with men than women, as ww2 proved women have the edge on men when it comes to killing in the field, a woman scorned etc tis a deja vu moment as this one appeared before when it was initially discussed. My opinion yes allow women front line sections, but make sure they are in all female units as this will allow them to fight more effectively, before i get accused of being sexist or a women hater, this issue is far more complex than having men and women working together in the office or warehouse, factory etc. This stems from the fact that in this role people have to not only bond but trust each other to step up and help if they get in trouble, and if anything gets in the way of that it has a detrimental effect on that sections fighting ability. Other issues are much more simple and those are of family back home, anyone who is in a relationship with military personnel have to trust their other halves in a way that is difficult for the majority to comprehend, it's even more difficult to try to explain, all i takes is for someone to get the green eyed monster, at home and it could have a devastating effect of fighting ability and that persons safety. not trying to be sexist but to grasp the reality of the situation you have to look at it from all angles forget what seems right ,wrong or pc . look at it from the side of you will be living with each other 24/7 and have to be able to build a bond that cant be built outside the forces

As long as they can cook. And make sure the tanks are clean & tidy. Absolutely. Besides, who wants to take a hormone fuelled, chatty, mood swing woman hostage? Christ I can't even put up with that at home!

There are many many issues, and exhaustive tests by the US Marines, the Israelis and others have proven that the combat effectiveness is reduced when women are mixed with men. Yes, there is the problem of physical strength. "All-male ground combat teams outperformed their mixed-gender counterparts in nearly every capacity during a recent infantry integration test, Marine Corps officials revealed Thursday. Data collected during a months long experiment showed Marine teams with female members performed at lower overall levels, completed tasks more slowly and fired weapons with less accuracy than their all-male counterparts. In addition, female Marines sustained significantly higher injury rates and demonstrated lower levels of physical performance capacity overall, officials said." US Marines tests for women in combat

A womans purpose is to nest the children in the home. A mans purpose is to protect that home and provide an opportunity to supply it. Most animals have it sussed.
