Kemar Roofe. £3mil O'Dowda £1.6mil.
Two players unproven above league two level going for those amounts of money. Is it just me or has it gone absolutely mad now? It's so hard to judge what a player is worth these days as the figures are so inconsistent. Everyone seems to think Ibe is overpriced at £15mil but compared to the likes of Sterling at £50mil, it is not reslly.
And then we have some people who don't think Matty Taylor has any great offers on the table when he was top scorer in all the English leagues and is availiable on a free?! Surely he is sought after, if he's not then it's even more fcuked up!

Barry Hayles went for £2,000,000 with only 66 league appearances in November 1998, with inflation of 2.7% that would work out as £3,174,603.19 up to last year. Not that bonkers really.

You buy for potential now and whilst Roofe is expensive at 3m if he does well at Leeds they could easily double that within 18 months.
Same with O'Dowda who is a really good player but Oxford have put a sell on fee should City ever sell him for big money.

That said, the top end has gone bonkers. Alan Shearer's world record fee of £15,000,000 in 1996 would only be £25,000,000 in 2015.

You can only lie the blame on the PL. The FA need to put a cap on spending now as its getting out of hand! Starts at the top and it will only have an effect on the leagues below in the coming years.

Just think transfer fees have gone mad. Fair play to Oxford for getting that much.

How would an FA cap work and control transfer fees? If you're Leeds you can only pay x million but if your man City you can pay 10x million? Or a standard cap on all clubs that would mean the Premier league teams would have to compete in the Champions League with Championship players. Like it or not but the horse bolted a very long time ago

Is this not what FFP does? I know a few take advantages of loopholes, but spending as a % of revenue is much more sensible than the way it worked before.

They should be docked points, not just 1 or 2, but 30 or 40 so they can't win any titles or qualify for European competitions.

Just have to look at the fees in the premiership ad they are filtering down the leagues.

Brexit should sort it, not just the PL but the euro elites are causing massive global inflation at top end and all others rising in to that void. Sadly income isn't matching it

To many loop holes and tv rights money has well and truly f**ked any other league apart from the PL
