Just seen the latest article in the post about DC once again telling the players his expectations again, how it's sink or swim and wants the players in the mind set of top six contenders again.
However personally after the past 3 years, I think I'd love nothing more than just a comfortable boring mid table finish.
Mentally, physically and financially the Rovers have drained me, and although a promotion/relegation battle does get the heart beating, I think until we (if we) relocate, mid-table consolidation would be a dream and then push on once real plans for UWE have been drawn up.
Still I suspect I'm alone on this front but more than happy to take criticism for what is quite a pessimistic view haha.

No you are certainly not alone in that way of thinking.
I've said recently that until we get a new stadium it would not be worth trying to compete in the Championship. The Championship is a place that will swallow all your money up and offer little reward, its only the Premiership that you really get the Champagne.
I worry for Burton as they could become whipping boys and find they tumble down the leagues.
Obviously if we do get another promotion we will take it and worry about the consequences later, but I will be content to stay in L1 for a few years while the stadium is sorted.

Upwards and onwards. Never mind sink or swim, get on the boat and sail it.

We are a football club with momentum. I want that to continue. Promotion from League One seems a step too far at this stage but this group of players defy the odds again and again.
Bring it on.

I agree, we wouldn't be able to survive in the Championship with the current stadium and infrastructure of the club.
However, to put a different spin on it, if DC can continue to progress the club on the pitch then it may set the alarms bells ringing for Wael and actually speed up the stadium issue as the need for a new a ground will be greater!

It shows the ambition of DC. However crazy the Leeds owner maybe it was still a big decision for DC not to go there.

Try telling Yeovil Town that.

I don't buy a season ticket just to float. I want us to arry on the momentum and to give it a real good go. I don't see us going down. I feel a top half finish is on the cards. Maybe a playoff rollercosster to end the season?

Darrell used the phrase "sink or swim" in relation to each player at the BBC Radio Bristol Sports Panel. He has set an ambition or target of top six this season and is saying to each and every player show me that you are good enough to match this ambition - if you don't, you're out and we'll look for players that are. I love he way he stimulates a great environment in the dressing room, whilst at the same time showing he is not afraid to wield the axe. I'm much more confident with this approach and it has served him well to four promotions in five years.

Whilst I'm happy for just staying up and taking a few years to build on it, I firmly believe there's a great chance DC could get us top 6. It's not as if we're chucking money at it and if we did I would then expect a lot more. But I like the approach we're taking.

I read it as he's said to the players prove you're top 6 quality rather than setting the team the goal of a top 6 finish. I may get a nose bleed if we're challenging for the playoffs this season

Ladies and gentlemen, just to let you know in case it's still not sinking in yet. We are going up, oh yes indeed, we are going up. As for all this 'too soon for the Championship' malarkey, tch! Next year it'll be too soon for the "promised land". Bring it on I say. In DC we trust, let's haaaave it. Love you Rovers. UTG!

However, to put a different spin on it, if DC can continue to progress the club on the pitch then it may set the alarms bells ringing for Wael and actually speed up the stadium issue as the need for a new a ground will be greater! Why? When asked about their promotion, the Burton manager said that if they stayed down, they would receive £1m in TV money. Going up meant they would get £6m. What stops survival in that? £6m is more than we can get in a whole season of full houses, plus we would probably have full houses for the majority of the season if we were in the championship, so with about £10m in gates and TV money, I think we might just struggle by. As someone said previously, it would give us food for thought with regard to the stadium, but if we ever allow the thought of just staying up to enter into the equation, then we would be on a slippery slope. If you can get the three in a row, bring it on.
