Until this weekend I was really fond of the Mem but a couple of things made me realise it's not the way forward. FIrstly, I couldn't bring my Father in Law because he can't stand (now all seats are gone). Second, took my son in the family enclosure for the first time, got told off for by Mrs O'Brady angry old lady for blocking her view whilst struggling to get some visibility for my six year old. Family club? Yes, lots of kids along the front but couldn't really push them out of the way and they are bigger so can see over the hoarding comfortably. Nowhere really comfortably so the boy ended up bored, me frustrated. Next time I'll go on my own. That's two lost ticket sales. We live out of the area so we will only go together to the away games which benefit from the away day atmosphere and usually better facilities taking into consideration the need to tow kids and pensioners around. There were plenty of empty seats in both the South & SouthWest stands. But the website was saying pre-match the South Stand was sold out? Even now you can't buy tickets in the middle two sections of the stand, ares the club restricted by how many seats they can sell when there's a large away following, or are all the tickets given to schools etc but they don't use them, it's all a bit of a mystery.

The central section of the South stand was very sparsly populated whilst the South West stand was virtually empty. I thought the point of the SW stand was to allow some pay on the day seats.
The club really ought to sort this out, and get some advice regarding seat availability onto that God-awful official website. Either that or ask the Evil to publish details on a regular basis.

Maybe someone from the club can explain why this keeps happening ? Being told its sold out only to see 100 plus empty seats. It's been like that numerous times over the last few seasons. Bloody frustrating !

I know of 8 regular ST holders who couldn't make it Saturday to the south stand.
Last season many South Stand ticket holders actually stood in the West Enclosure because you can just walk in there once you are through the turnstiles.
This leaves the south stand looking more empty than it technically was.

Let's not overlook last seasons home attendances were the highest for decades, this summer's s/t sales are also highest for probably as long as records exist, certainly at least at the mem. Also yesterday's attendance may well have been the highest ever gate form the first home game, we also had to contend with peak summer holiday season and the balloon festival plus Oxford are hardly the biggest draw when we played them last season. If we get around 10K again tomorrow they could well be the first time we've had around 20K in our first two league home games at the Mem nothing to complain about supporters wise in my view. All good stuff..........but still a big step away from the level of support we deserve. The crowd on Wednesday will be interesting, and I will say if we exceed 10k that is good, but am guessing it will be closer to 8500 which will be poor. 8,500 isn't poor for a 3rd division club that are playing in a crappy old ground with poor facilities, it's a bloody good crowd and 10,000 is excellent. The crappy ground and facilities don't bother me I actually quite like it but it does put some people off. Rome wasn't built in a day and if you compare our attendances these last couple of years with previous attendances they're on the up.

Perhaps that explain it then but why pay, I assume extra, for a seat then stand up, you can see this becoming more of a problem this season now the West Terrace is sold out to s/t holders.

Am I being unreasonable here? Two season ticket holder mates are currently on their holidays and arrive back next Monday! The only hope of getting their vouchers is to break in to their respective houses!!! Just phoned the club shop and told no voucher, no ticket! I explained the situation and was hoping that they are on a data base and could be cross-referenced. I have texts from both of them giving me the nod to get a ticket.
Expected a different response to be honest than no voucher, no ticket and we only have 4,000 tickets!

Too many people buying and borrowing vouchers as it is giving genuine season ticket holders much less of a chance of getting one.

Being on holiday shouldn't stop you from having the chance to get a ticket. This just highlights how old fashioned we are. The database should have every ST holders details and by ringing the club, you should be able to exercise your options.

Didn't someone post earlier that you could phone up to reserve a ticket, and then you'd need to produce your voucher to pick it up? Couldn't you just do that and pick them up Monday afternoon/ Tuesday morning?

Problem for the club is why invest £10K's on a new ticketing season at the mem to only then scrap it when we move to the UWE. As far as the fans on hols I assume Data Protection rules mean that only the s/t owners can contact the club to reserve tickets?

It doesn't cost £10Ks to create an excel document and formulate some unique serial numbers. Data protection? In this instance, st holders cannot contact the club to reserve tickets so that is not an issue.

Bloody frustrating ! I asked the Fans Liaison Officer about this last season, and the response was that the number of seats in the South Stand is greater than the number of fans which the club are licensed to admit. Although, with the changes made to accommodate the new South West Tent, I would have hoped that action would have been taken to maximize the available South Stand capacity too.
