The point of the loans for all concerned was for them to play a major part in the season....but they have to earn it...as do the existing squad. So even family favourites like brown, lockyer, sinclair and lines will have to prove themselves every game or expect to be dropped. I'm no manager but if I dropped a player from the first team they would be sat in the stands waiting their chance to earn a place on the bench again.....not go straight to the bench. With a big squad you need to ensure just making the bench is seen as an achievement.

DC said on "Having a Gas" last night that Jake C-S wasn't match fit currently as he had a knee problem. So there will not necessarily be tinkering with the defense to start with. I like the thought of a Lines, Colkett, Boateng, Moore midfield once we have them all fit. Yes just watched the interview on gas player and it sounded like JCS was at least a couple of weeks away from even being considered for first team action. As for what our best team is...doesn't that depend on who the next project is? I have absolutely no idea whether Rochdale have a weakness on the flanks, through central midfield, or a static defence ...but I expect DC does know and will line up with the XI that he thinks can exploit their shortcomings and win us the game! Of course if they've got no weaknesses then he'll draw the names out of a hat and hope to hang on for a draw!!

I liked all of that post except the last bit which reminded me of Mark Mc Ghees second season. 😳
