So, he was involved in the build up to the winning goal on the last game of last season, this clearly justifies his place in the starting 11 every week then?
Newport and now Cambridge has both benched him after taking him on loan, clearly not good enough and only here as DC promised all players a new contract, and in Goslings case one he knew he wouldn't better anywhere else.
... and you have evidence of this or again yet more guess work on your part
An educated guess based on him hardly featuring last season in a lower league, being farmed out on loan to Newport and still signing a new deal.

Lets PANIC, we are in the relegation places. Our Manager has never managed above the conference/forth division, our Board haven't signed any megastars and we are boycotting anything we dont like.
Lighten up guys it's early doors yet. Lets show some of that Twerton spirit

Why on earth would you be distraught if Gos ever played for us again? Total lack of respect for a player who played a role in two promotions IMO! Think you used the wrong word. By all means be something, but distraught....? Think you need a sense of perspective over this. UTG and players who have played a part over the past two years! I see Gos could only make the bench for Cambridge on Saturday and they are bottom of Div 2! I doubt we'll see him in Rovers shirt again. Yes, I saw that as well. And I agree that it's doubtful if he will play for us again. But then I thought that when he went to Newport last season. My point, not that you said it, was that distraught was the wrong word to use and was disrespectful to a player who helped us at our lowest point.

ok maybe distraught is too harsh but if Gosling ever plays for us again in a competitive game id be really surprised and disappointed.
Ok, that I can understand and even agree with to an extent. UTG!

Let's hope we don't need to bring anyone on to help set up a last minute goal to secure promotion, again.

No of course it doesn't guarantee him a place in the team. I suspect with DC nor would a hat trick!! UTG!

Never said he needed to be in the starting 11 every week. I was just pointing out that, in contrast to being distraught if he ever comes on, he has the history to allow me to be confident he can bring something to the team.

I would be distraught if Gosling ever played for us again. Clearly not good enough even for L2 hence being shipped out to Newport. Poor player who has benefitedfrom all the players being offered new contracts for promotion. Why on earth would you be distraught if Gos ever played for us again? Total lack of respect for a player who played a role in two promotions IMO! Think you used the wrong word. By all means be something, but distraught....? Think you need a sense of perspective over this. UTG and players who have played a part over the past two years! How many first team appearances (not sub) has Gosling made in the last 2 years? If he was any good (a) it would have been more (b) he wouldn't be out on loan. So he is a gonner. Next why did we ever sign Liam Lawrence? Two good games and one goal, another who needs to go. Too slow and injury prone.

I'm not sure if Gos and some others are good enough for this league and I wouldn't be surprised if he and others don't play for us again. But I would always support them if DC thought they were good enough and picked them and to an extent I hope they get the chance to show it but TBH I think it's unlikely esp after this transfer window. But I will always be grateful for his (Gos) part in the D/R goal when he passed through midfield and for that alone he gets my respect. And he joined us and played his part when we were at our lowest point and for that he will always have my total respect. Others have different opinions and that's fair enough, it's a forum where people have opinions.

What because he made a simple 5 yard pass to a teammate which indirectly led to the most important goal of last season?
I could count the number of decent games he has had on one hand, and given we have been in the conference and L2 that pretty much says it all.

I think Sinclair was injured, and Lines wasnt playing well. That just left us with Mansell.

Well, I can't be arsed to have an argument about football player opinions. We both know what he's done since he's been here. He obviously didn't do enough for you to be confident in him, but he did enough for me to be confident in him. I'd have no problem if he came on or started a League 1 game, but you would. Also, re the Cambridge issue. Gaffney couldn't even get on the Cambridge bench, so not sure how much of the Cambridge manager's opinion we need to take as gospel.

Gosling has been the biggest disappointment for me, Liam Lawrence also but he was already on a decline in his career.
I have a few Exeter mates who were gutted Gosling went so I was really expecting big things but this just hasn't materialised, in fact I saw more from Derek Riordan.
At 23 he needs to be somewhere where he can get regular games, sadly for an international like him his absolute top level will probably be L2 but I think the conference would favour him more.
DC obviously doesn't have him in his plans, surely that's the most important thing.

Is the converse also true? Hypothetically speaking of course.

How can Gosling be your biggest disappointment? Apart from playing joke international football there was nothing on his CV to suggest he was going to be that good a player? Given Gosling struggled to even old down a place in the Conference side it's amazing he's still at the club. Although fair play to him going out on loan to try and get regular football. As far as Gaffers the ways he's been performing so far this season perhaps the Cambridge manager was right all along?

Yes because our manager wasn't picking him, therefore in the managers eyes (and I assume his is the only one that matters right?) he isn't/wasn't good enough for the first team.

I have friends connected with Exeter who seemed to think he had lots of potential (he was 21 when he came here or thereabouts?) and Exeter have been known to have a good rep for bringing youngsters through.
