It was a disappointing performance for sure, Rochdale are managed by a very shrewd and experienced man, he had obviously done his homework and got his tactics right. We reverted to an almost 4-4-2 late in the first half which saw us improve, the lack of wide men was always a problem. Maybe introducing Ryan Broom into the side could help, he does like to hug the touchline which is something the other fit winger (Billy Bodin) rarely does. Looking forwards to tomorrow night, I have a trip over to Surrey with work but will be rushing back for the game. Evening kickoffs seem to change the atmosphere in the ground, bluddy hope so anyway. Come on you BLUES At half -time, I thought, despite being 2 - 1 down, this a really good high tempo game and the opposition haven't just come to sit back. 2nd half both teams tired and the game got scrappy. I hope tomorrow's game is as good as the 1st on Saturday but with a different result

Related to this, I noticed in quite a few games, there's a bloke who stands near the half way line, on the East side, who sorta shouts his way through a lot of the game. He also directs critical comments to the players directly, like he thinks he can tell them what to do. Weirdly, he wears a proper Rovers training kit; he's even got his initials on the training top, like one of the players. Sometimes he even goes on the pitch. And no one tells him to shut up!

We played with wingback which didn't work, browner and Clarke are left and right backs ONLY at this level, I am all for brown getting around past wide midfielders to support the play, but an out and out winger he is not.
For me I would play 4 4 2
Roos J clarke Hartley Lockyer Brown Montano boating lines bodin Taylor Harrison
I think Hartley has been a bit shakey, so I would like to see Clark-Salter given a run out and also Colckett given more time on the pitch.

It was flat because the manager got the tactics wrong and we were playing absolute garbage. Probably because he's clueless He was on Saturday. Not for the first time either.

We all know that DC learns from his mistakes and will sort it out in fairly quick time, remember the last two seasons our start was slow So are you saying he hasn't learnt from the last two seasons ?

With reference to this post , all I would say is that Bodin is not at the races at the moment, and whilst I have no issue with Clark-Salter getting a run out, I would start with Hartley. The reason is simple. He is our player.

So, you'd start with Olly Clark before Hirambo? Cos he's our player.

Also I would consider 4 5 1, 3 cms lines boateng Colckett with two advanced wide players

The problem Saturday was the role Hartley started playing, but in his correct role he is good.

I think the jury is still out on that one as we seem to concede a lot of goals from that side of the the defence, whilst he was left exposed on Saturday for the first goal, he was still one on one and got beat fairly easily, I can't imagine a striker getting past Elliot like that or even Locks on last season's form. He's clearly strong in the air, less so on the ground.
