Personally, I don't think we should play loan players just to appease their parent clubs. That would affect the morale of our own players too much. It's been said by many that DC's man management is really good, therefore I don't believe he would do this. DC has given some insight into how he picks teams in his latest interview. Fitness levels are now monitored and measured by a backroom team. Maybe fitness levels are ruling Connor Roberts out of the reckoning, who knows? What I do know is that DC will have reasons that players - loaned or otherwise - are not making the matchday squad, and I trust whatever decisions he chooses to make. Then surely we shouldnt bother loaning them in the first place?? Why would clubs want to loan players to us knowing they will be in the stands or the bench at best??

Swansea are buying players for £15 million, Roberts wages would barely register on their accounts for them to worry about it. Thats the trouble with these Premier league teams, even the lower ranked ones, more money than sense.

I'm saying that keeping Swansea/Chelsea happy is not a valid reason to play them. The loan players have to be worthy of their place just like any other member of the team.

is it just me that gets frustrated with these threads? we have approx 27 man squad and we can only play 11,a full back isnt a great sub and we have leadbitter, brown and james clarke who do or can play full back. why are people so concerned about upsetting ***g swansea? we have him until january, danny leadbitter who i like very much has had a few shaky games among some very good games so he may get a chance very soon but much better if danny and lee brown keep him out imo as there our own players both on 2 year deals but hey-ho we dont want to upset swansea do we? ? So frustrated that you continue posting your clueless opinions on them. I think the blame lies with the useless moderators I mean they just shouldn't allow anything but factual threads on a football fans forum it's just ridiculous having threads about where is Connor Roberts, is Matty Taylor fit or why are we helping Cambridge United get relegated. No damn it it's Darrel Clarke's fault signing loanees he doesn't need, no f**k it;s Steve Hamer & Wael's fault wantonly allowing the manager to sign players. Quite incredible when you think about. The sooner we f**k off all the other 91 clubs the better then we won't have to worry about loanees playing or not.

Perhaps DC tells the parent club " we would like this player as we need someone decent in his position but he will have to fight for his place like every other squad member" parent club says sounds fair enough. Just a thought like.. 😳

I think you may be wrong there. Loanees from the much bigger clubs such as Chelsea etc are still being paid by them in full. Deals such as paying half or whatever the said loanee is on may be the arrangement with other/smaller clubs. That is why big clubs get upset if their players are not being played.

Just a thought like.. 😳 Good point and it may knock some of the 'attitude' out of the rising stars and they can see how the other half live,so to speak.

Correct, so if they are the next frank lampard they'll be getting and keeping they're place pretty soon I would imagine.. It is what it is really,

Roberts was locked in a shed all along, feeding off insects and worms to survive. Found by Keith Brookman 2 days ago looking while for a shovel (?). Who'd have thought eh?!

Perhaps this thread reminded DC Roberts as still at the club?

Perhaps this thread reminded DC Roberts as still at the club? You're not seriously suggesting DC reads the forums are you? No chance of that!

LOL it was said tongue firmly in cheek but DC refers to comments posted on here enough to suggest that he either reads it, or somebody regularly reports back what's being said. Interesting he said in his post match interview that Roberts was outstanding on his debut!!

Surprised to see him playing against Southampton in a relegation dogfight. No wonder they're struggling.

Swansea loaned him to rovers 2 years ago,he provided cover for leadbitter for 6 months now hes older and stronger playing for swansea. Thats how it was supposed to work for swansea.
