I'm pretty sure that it was all well ment banter, but given the potential for it to be taken out of context (as seems to be the case) I would regard singing that song at that ground as a little clumsy....

We have Sung "Is there a fire alarm?" at several away fixtures. That is a fact and not an opinion!! The first time i remember hearing it was Saints fans singing it to us when they beat us at The mem 4-0, Is there a fire drill when loads started leaving after the fourth goal |

Exactly this. While for many of us the tragedy was a big event taken place in our lifetime, anybody under the age of 30 weren't even born. It's not as well documented as Hillsborough and so sadly, there will be a very very large section of our support who are oblivious. |

You can't be showing a lack of respect if you have no knowledge on what you're deemed to be disrespecting! |

Whilst it may be banter at any other ground, it is not something that should be sung at Valley Parade. yeah I would be wrong if meant in a nasty way but it wasn't,the next away game everyone will have google the place before they go The fans these days are a lot better behaved than 30 yrs ago,I remember at eastville asking my dad why everyone in the ground were making monkey noises So there will be banning orders on anyone found swearing etc |

Im sure nobody was taking the water about that tragic fire, its a common leg pull at most games as you all well know, of course the 82ers are trying to turn it into something bigger but im sure bradford have heard it hundreds of times over the last few seasons and probably take no notice anymore. Lets not make a mountain out of a molehill.

You were not aware of that so I agree with your opinion that as you did not know that then you were not being disrespectful: However, one does not follow, "with all due respect" with a veiled insult as it makes the quoted remark redundant and is disrespectful. I am sure that many younger football fans are aware of the fire at Valley Parade. The 30th anniversary was very much in the news in April of last year, so would have brought it to the attention of many of those who were previously unaware of it. There are things that happened before I was born of which I am aware, as well as some in my lifetime: Ibrox Park has more than it fair share of disasters, one in 1902, another in 1961, and yet another in 1971. The latter two being in my lifetime but I am aware of the first. One at Bolton's old Burnden Park ground in 1946 (before my time). Heysel Stadium in 1985. Then of course there is the Munich air disaster. I was too young to know about the Munich air crash but became aware of it at a young age and I reckon thge majority of all football fans, no matter what age, are aware of that. Maybe I am too interested in football and its history so that makes me old and miserable, as Paulpirate puts it. |

It's sad that more aren't clued up on historic tragedies which have occurred in the past in the sport we all love. But thats just life. I also bet there are a fair few fans who know of the incident but in the heat of the moment Saturday either forgot it was Bradford or weren't quick enough to link the song to the tragedy. I agree with you, the song should not be sang at Valley Parade. However it was your suggestion that it was disrespectful I am disagreeing with. How can something be said or sang in a disrespectful manner if those singing are unaware or forgetful of the events? |

To be fair I didn't know about it (just turned 30) until there was all that publicity about it when they had that amazing run in the FA cup.
It's not a burned into the public psyche as Hillsborough or Heysel
