Fully- deserved win. A shame we couldn't have sealed a 3 -1 win as it got nervy again at the end and Vale came close twice after doing nothing for 35-odd minutes in 2nd half.

Roos 7 did what was needed, kicking a bit off but the wind didn't help Leadbitter 7 defended well and got forward in the second half to good effect Lockyer 6.5 defended well but long balls forward were poor for the most part Hartley 6.5 solid Brown 7 defended ok,great cross for the goal Sinclair 6 usual display from Sincs Lines 7 had a good game,he will run right through a team and score one day O. Clarke 5 seemed off the pace at times Gaffney 5 worked hard but very little goal threat Easter 8 held the ball well coming deep and when pushed up top, uses his strength well Harrison 7 great header and another who worked hard, decision making still not great at times Subs: Bodin 4 can't think of much he added when coming on Moore 7 gave us width and showed good pace, brought down for the pen James 5 a bit isolated at the end Crowd 8 Ref 5 some odd decisions Port Vale 6 knocked it about well but very little pace in the team, and zonal marking from corners will cost them against big teams

Roos 7 beginning to form an understanding with the back four, looks safe under the high ball and general shot stopping..doing well. Leadbitter 7 used his pace in both defence and attack to great effect. Lockyer 7 solid Hartley 6 competent Brown 8 back to his best and icing on the cake was his cross for Ellis's goal Clarke 7 did a lot of the dirty work and put Browner through for the first goal Sinclair 7 does the dog of war job untiringly Lines 7 strong running, good set pieces, decent passing in good nick at the moment Easter 9 head and shoulders above the rest, hardly wasted a ball (except when blazing over the bar). He's only started four games this season ..and he scored in three of them. Gaffney 7 hard working performance deserves to end his dry spell. Harrison 7.5 lovely leap and directed header for the goal, a couple of excellent crosses early in the second half deserved a better outcome. Went for the corner frustratingly early when we had numerical advantage in the box but then I guess he did help see out the game.
Moore 7 once again the subs made a positive impact none more so than Byron whose introduction added width, guile and pace to Rovers armoury, fully deserved pen. Bodin 6.5 still not at his best but stretched Vale on the right had a snapshot fly wide and defended gamely when called upon. James 6 hard working effort but got flattened early on and it took the wind out of his sails
Crowd 8 stayed positive and in good humour Vale 5 plenty of decent play, Purkiss and Grant probably the pick of their bunch today. Seemed to lose conviction after they fell behind but a look at their away record suggests they are not over resilient on the road. Ref 5 ..getting used to Kettle's eccentricity.

Roos 7 looking confident, good on crosses, kicking a bit wayward but the wind didnt help him Leadbitter 7.5 a goog game, defended competently Lockyer 7 probably his best game this season, not quite back to his high standard but he's getting there Hartley 7.5 gives his all and never holds back, sometimes his full commitment ends up in him being caught out but he's an inspirational player. Brown 7.5 a sublime cross for Ellis' goal and generally sound Sinclair 7 the perfect pest as usual, could and should have got a second yellow but thankfully the ref took the lenient option. Lines 8 he's in a rich vein of form, long may it continue. O. Clarke 6.5 worked hard, unlucky with one good shot. Gaffney 6.5 did the hard working bits well but goals still ellusive Easter 9 M.o.M. absolute quality, looks fitter than he's ever been since joining us,an integral part of the team. Harrison 7 good goal, worked hard, much improved, he showed he can be a 90 minute player. Subs: Bodin 6 ok Moore 7.5 he impresses every time i see him and i reckon theres even more to come. James 6 ok Crowd 6 a bit quiet. Ref 7 he excercised common sense with Sinclair and generally got things right. Port Vale 5 lightweight and very ordinary, their league position flattered them, not relegation candidates but not much better.

They passed the ball better I agree that they had the better of the first half but we were all over them second half and I don't think they were better technically at all. Also their attitude was pretty crap, soon as we equalised there was only going to be one winner and when we got the second their heads dropped massively. They had a div 1 team lacking spirit we had a div 1 team with bags of spirit.

Roos 7 Generally sound, kicking a bit wayward starting to fit in.
Leadbitter 6 improved as the game went on, needs to beat his man more often. Lockyer 6 Sound game and a lot better from Tom. His distribution can be woeful though. Hartley 6 Generally ok got turned by sub second half and a few bad clearances. Brown 8 great game from Browner fantastic assist and a match winning block late on.
Sinclair 7 a fantastic shift an absolute pest for the opposition. Lines 7 good form from Linesy this is his level. O. Clarke 6 clever passing tired second half but decent.
Gaffney 6 needs a goal worked hard. Easter 9 his footballing intelligence and guile was massive for us yesterday. Got into pockets not many can find. Harrison 8 Great game a real handful for defences. Something might of just clicked for this young man. Great header.
Subs: Bodin 5 Moore 7 James 5
Crowd 5 quiet for long periods better second half. Ref 7 thought Mr kettle had a decent game. Port Vale 6 a decent side that got beaten by a better side.

My own opinions from the match. I felt it was a real team performance and that no one player stood far above their team mates. We eventually outplayed them all over the pitch and every player was a part of that. Credit then goes to DC and his team for the training and coaching of these players.
