Has anybody ever won the Tour de France, without performance enhancing drugs in their system? Not Sir Bradley apparently. Within the rules or not, he started a couple of the races with a shot of steroid hormones inside him. A clean athlete, he wasn`t.

I think if you tell the authorities you are taking a particular drug to treat a particular medical problem, then it's not an issue, as I think this is the case with Wiggins. You have to remember that even simple things like 'Night Nurse' contain drugs that would get you banned from competing ! I think the difference is whether you tell them that you have to take a drug to treat a medical condition, or whether you just get caught taking a drug without notifying the authorities.

Apparently Chris Froome was allowed to take some steroid's while winning The Tour because he had a "chill".......

David Walsh, ( the Sunday Times sports journalist, who brought Lance Armstrong`s house of cards crashing down ) suggests that Wiggins should have an asterisk after his name, with regards to his Tour de France victories. * Steroid Assisted.

Assuming Wiggins actually had the medical condition he was being treated for. I love cycling and the grand tours but in my humble opinion Wiggins is a dirty cheat. As are all of them. I personally feel that Armstrong has been wrongly vilified. There were so many cheating when he won his TdF that they were unable to even appoint winners through tracking back to a clean rider. His victories should stand and people should be made aware of what a mess cycling was (and still is) in. I don't know how many of you have read the Tyler Hamilton book The Secret Race, but it's an excellent read. Sky are no more clean than US postal. It's a farce.

He wasn`t doing anything that the other main contenders at the time weren`t doing; he won those races because he was the best cyclist. But the sport needed a scapegoat. Probably the same could be said for Wiggins.
