Thought I would start if anyone is interested.
I watched a bit of the TV debate today and must say I am unconvinced by either. I guess Hillary Clinton is the lesser of two bad choices but a Trump Presidency is still possible. Not too sure what to make if him, could be interesting and not necessarily in a good way.
One commentator I heard a few weeks ago suggested that neither is likely to last a full term, so it is the Vice Presidents who may be the ones to look out for.

I do sometimes wonder if the Conspiracy Theorists have a point. Does it really matter who is elected President, as the real power are the shady people who remain in the background? Let's be honest. These two idiots just cannot be the best that the US have to offer. I am not pro-Trump or pro-Clinton as I think they are both awful.
I did read one interesting comment. It said that Clinton came across as a real Washington career politician, and for that reason, given the current mood world-wide regarding politicians, will mean that Trump gets elected !

It`s not really anything to do with conspiracy theories, that the American President doesn`t have total control over events. The US founding fathers were determined to avoid the possibility that some Hitler/ Stalin/ Pol Pot type would become leader, and so they built a whole series of checks and balances into their constitution, constraining the Numero Uno. Where does the real power lie? Quien Sabe? I do find it deeply ironic though, that the US president who took the world to the very brink of nuclear obliteration, was a Democrat. |
