I know this is tempting fate, but has anyone ever had back to back to back promotions in england?

Swansea did. They went from 4th division to first (Prem) under Toshack. I remember it with particular fondness 'cause while they were doing that, the sh**e were going the opposite way. Happy days. UTG!

UTG! I don't think they did. Not consecutively anyway. Pretty sure the only team to do it was Gretna and obviously that was in the Scottish leagues.. In England it has only been done in non league. Chester, Truro and FC united of Manchester.

Interesting about Swansea. Just been reading about them. They went from 4th division to 2nd division, a season there, then promoted to the 1st division.
I made the mistake of boasting about DC's achievements in front of a Womble mate the other week and was promptly given a history lesson on AFC.

Bristol City did it in reverse.
Shame they no longer exist.

Watford from 4th to 1st 1979-83 under Taylor and Ward! Sure they went from 4th to 2nd in two years and then stay for one year before promotion to 1st. Will now go and check.
ps was wrong promoted 1977, up in 1978, in div 2 for 79, 80, promoted in 81. I'd settle for that!
So to answer op, no I can't think of one but I'm sure others would love think of one. Did Northampton do it 1961-1965 before going back down to Div 4 in 3 years?

Looked it up and seems to have got promotion to Div 3, stayed 2 years go up to Div 2, stayed 2 years went up again. Very gradual ascent but much quicker drop with successive relegations. Mind you must have been great to have been a cobbler in early to mid 60s. UTG!
