Although you could not possibly imagine two more dissimilar characters, they are in a similar position at the moment.
Grassroots supporters love them. The establishment in the party are horrified by them. Ordinary middle ground voters are bewildered by them.
Admittedly The Trump is more likely to win something than Corbyn, but the fact that, against normal political rules, both are now thrust into the frontline shows that politics is changing again, and the old rules have been blown away in today's world.
Will we be heading towards lots of separate-interest parties in the future, with manifestos decided by social media?

They are both unelectable twats too.
I've been a Labour and Liberal voter all my life and its painful to see both parties completely self destruct.
The Tories of the last few years have never been so weak and yet had to do so little to win.
I can see May making a decent fist of things too and being in power for at least 2 full terms completely unopposed.
We are f**ked.
And still, I'd take that over the choice the Yanks have. Mind you, I don't imagine Trump or Clinton will last more than one term so maybe they are not so bad off as us after all.

I agree that Theresa May is going to win comfortably in 2020 unless something drastic happens to Labour. The boundary changes are going to impede Labour plus overturning the SNP in Scotland needs a large swing back similar to Tony Blair's 1997 win. My reading of the tea leaves is that Corbyn will be leader going into the next election and only after that will we see another challenge, but with Momentum having quite a say in MPs it will take some time. The rebels went too soon in my opinion, shame they couldn't wait until next year, though I understand why. It's like the 1980s, who said history repeats itself?
