Shame on you nobs my semi got gert flacid, need proper vid of sump wide angle , switch the feckin skimmer on,  Can't put the Skimmer on for a couple of days yet. I seeded the tank with ATM Colony bacteria. Great stuff as it means you don't have to fart about with the old method of cycling the tank, but you can actually add fish the very same day. However, it means no Skimmer for about four days to give the bacteria a chance to anchor onto the rocks. Another gert new thing I've got is something called 'Marine Pure'. It's a ceramic piece about 8x8x4 which looks like sponge. It sits in the Sump and provides a place for bacterial growth to reduce Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrates. It actually replaces the real rock in the DT, meaning I can put less rock in the DT, which creates more swimming space for the fish. It's another addition to my low maintenance target. |

So, the tank is now running and I've transferred the first fish over from my old tank. So that's only two Clowns, two Yellow Bellied Damsels and an Orchid Dottyback. No corals have been transferred and none of the Cleanup Crew. The water looks a little cloudy as I had just added the ATM Colony bacteria to kick-start everything. It's also very 'blue' as the shots were taken in the evening so the lights are on 'ramp down' towards sunset. Sump pictures tomorrow.......   Your cleaner looks rather young. |

Used to use ceramic tubes for that but a small plate sounds much better ,i'm a believer in sump socks don't buy one ,when your tanks cycled get a wire coat hanger form a circle and a clip to go over the sump add bottom of a pair of tights, place inlet tube in the tight , leave for a few days and remove , look at the water after using one it always seems a lot more polished then look at the crud in the sock , if you like what you see get a real one , i love em because it collects all the large particles (tights collect fine particles boiled ,muslem cloth allows finer particles through) also make skimmer easier to clean etc.

It's easy to take them out and clean them. I've also put some filter floss in them to help clear the water. |

Ah, I wouldn't have known that as I don't sit on my sofa, in my underpants and string vest, with a can of cheap cider, smoking fake Chinese cigarettes, and watch mind-numbing crap tv programmes.....as some do....in the Frenchey area ! |
