What an awful story. He can't be the only one either.
Brave to speak out about it though.
Hope doing so has helped him and others that may still be subject to this kind thing.

I am understanding sort of a fella but not with this. Utterly selfish cowardly scum. I can't think of another answer apart from death.

People forget Footballers are humans, players can be left out for reasons other than form, what is good for the team etc. They can underperform much the same as all of us do when we're not having a good time. They can be ill tempered, they can be down, they can be frankly having a mare and we do not know.

Very little support out there for men.
How many men have had this but won't seek treatment because society still sees this as shameful and taboo?
Answer: a lot
Glad he had a good career to compensate somewhat, many I am sure are broken men to this day.
Bastard.

Answer: a lot Glad he had a good career to compensate somewhat, many I am sure are broken men to this day. Bastard. It's more the shame and the feelings of letting your parents down, coupled with the fact that back then the attitude of the filth was one of serves you right or oh really f**k off. Said this before but t'wernt till i met wendy that i felt safe enough to blurt stuff out, and it wasn't till the last few years that i did, I've posted about it before (mainly to highlight that this and depression needs to be talked about not swept away) and if anyone wants to read about it it's on here somewhere. Dont take this the wrong way but broken is the wrong word, more fecked up for life with no means of escape from it, you kinda put it to the back of your mind but it's always there if you see someone overly friendly with kids you tend to strike out(allegedly). You tend to have nightmares or wake up fuming and don't understand why ,but you know why but don't seem to be able to face it, one thing i will say is if anyone had this happen then speak to someone, samaritans, total stranger etc , as once you do if feels like the monkey has been lifted from your back and will give you a tiny bit of relief from the misplaced guilt. The reality is these days it is much easier to report as it's more open now than it was. As althepirate says the only way to deal with this is death as the only way you can guarantee no one else will suffer from one of these lady gardens is to kill them.

But I am glad you made it, dealt with it (as far as one can) and have the courage to share. I usually don't agree with the death penalty on account of it being irreversible, I.e if you get the wrong man or someone is framed, you can't sow their head back on. However, when I hear of this kind of thing one feels inclined to relax this position and make exceptions. Always worth remembering that while these demons may find their victims and abuse them, they will never, ever be human. Not what most people consider human. There is a whole spectrum of experience of life - care, compassion, good stewardship of the young and all the lifelong benefits of friendship and being a role model - they will only ever know hate.
