"The Thatchers End was fairly crowded, both stands were quite full and the West Enclosure was 80% full. The East Enclosure didn't look too crowded and the Tent End was almost empty - couldn't see the little stand. I've been in the ground with lower crowds e.g. previous season JPT games and this was definitely higher. Plus the 50/50 prize money is always about 10% of the crowd - hence when we get 10,000 the money is about £1000 etc. Everyone where I was standing laughed when the crowd was announced and all felt it was actually higher."
A post from a fellow forum member. So why do people think the official attendance was less than it looked?

I thought you'd already done a thread on this?!?? Anyway, isn't this an old chestnut? Sure I've heard this kind of claim before down the years. Whatever - you might be right but what can you do about it?

Do we know what's officially been stated, was it just the 3676, if so, perhaps somebody should just tweet the club for an official explanation as I doubt any of us can answer the question?

I've heard 82'ers posing the same question for Trashton attendances, and they've got a much more up to date, electronic system - it will probably remain one of life's mysteries!

So why do people think the official attendance was less than it looked? I think you will find the 50/50 is about £1300 when we have a crowd of approx 10000. This is from my own lucky win from a while back. Therefore I would think £500 would be about right for the 3500 or so on Tuesday night.

Stood on East Terrace v Crawley, and amongst people around me, we thought crowd was 3500, Thathers end, was no where near as packed as normal, there were large areas with no supporters at either end, East terrace wasn't crowded, seats opposite, had a fair few empty seats, South stand virtually no-one, new stand empty bar about 10 hardy souls, Family enclosure empty, couldn't see Dribild stand.

Looked about right to me, East Terrace and Thatchers looked less than half full, West Terrace looked busy but then again only has a 1000 capacity. All seated areas very empty.
I say people saying we'd get 6-7,000 before but I just couldn't see it, early cup reply on a wet Tuesday night coming up to Christmas with 2 more home games soon. Pretty standard, especially if you look at other attendances on the night. Coventry only got 2,000

Same as what I saw. No way was it near 5k.

Didn't even think there were 3600 there, so its right in my eyes. Unless of course GGMI thinks Rovers are fiddling the revenue in which case let's hope the revenue close us down.
What a prat.

Whenever the North East corner of the ground has no people on it you know its a good sub-5k crowd

Perhaps the Bristol Zoo car park attendant was on the turnstile!

I don't know. Why was the Crawley attendance(3676) less than it looked?
Because the the chicken crossed the road?
