After last nights fiasco we lie in 10th place. Of the nine teams above us we have played eight of them and only managed to record a victory against one other. At the start of the season I would have settled for a mid table finish and results so far point to this being the eventual outcome. The table does'nt lie they say and this certainly appears to be the case so far.

how many points has roos cost us? if we had a decent keeper we'd still be in the playoffs if not flirting with the automatic places

how many points has roos cost us Quite a few as well as terrible defending, wasteful finishing , bad refereeing, poor substitutions tactical changes etc. Also Roos has won us points with good goalkeeping the strikers have won us points with good finishing Clarke has won us points with good tactical changes...

Without being called disloyal to the Gas and unlike others slagging off individual players, could it not be just the case that our squad at the moment is only good enough for a mid table position?

Isn't this what we've done for the past two seasons? Not looking too bright until the new year then hitting our stride for the run-in?

In 2 we have conceded 4 and 5 goals. Roos can't be blamed for every goal we concede and games we lose, just making him a scapegoat or what's wrong in front of him at the moment. We have a few players that need improving all over the pitch. Right Back, Center Mid fields, Wingers, a second striker.

Maybe Mrs DC has given him advice that it's not advisable to peak too soon and much more satisfying for all concerned if he builds slowly, reaching a climax......at the end of the season.

bideford calls it correct. Our squad is mid-table at best. Yes we've been in play off positions but it's at the season end when we need to be in them. I honestly think there are 6 better teams than us in the league. That's not running us down, it's being realistic and honest. I feel that this season was all about keeping away from being relegated and when we were near the top I thought we would have a free run at things this season by over achieving. But 2 very successful years has built a feeling of entitlement and high expectations amongst the fans which is great. Now we have to stick together and support the team. Last time I saw Charlton was against Bournemouth when they won the Championship to go up to the PL. That was the week before I went to Wembley to see us beat Grimsby, they were in Championship and we were Conference. 18 months later we are playing each other! At that match I would have bitten your arm off if someone had said we would be doing that 18 months later! Hard to take after a 1-5 home defeat, but it's true. I won't criticise individuals we win as a team and we lose as a team. The goals we've let in makes the defence look bad but we've also not scored enough goals esp when you see the chances we've had. Thought DC was very honest in his chat after the match and like last 2 years I think we will get better, but this is a very much stronger league than the last two leagues and I guess we all need a reality check. (I've put my hard hat on!) UTG!

We have come a long way in a very short period of time, there will no doubt be many up and downs before the season ends, but I have no doubt we will continue to improve and move forward, keep the faith everyone

I would take anything but relegation.... But from I've seen so far so divi isn't great and I think we can make the top 6. The only concern is would we want to go up anyway

It's all very predictable that the mid-table finish we all saw as fine in July is not so cosy in November when we start losing a few, but the shock of 1 point in 9 and 1 goal scored against 9 conceded is too much too soon.
Still, it's just a bad run. Everyone has them. We'll be fine soon, I'm sure. Still trust DC.
I expect he'll start changing the team around a bit to sort it out,

A few weeks ago Uwe Rosler was shouted down by DC for stating that we had done well, before questioning if we could sustain it. It was clearly an attempt at putting pressure on our boys before the game, but it turns out he had a point - we couldn't sustain it.
Many people on here have stated that they feel there is nothing to fear from this league. Since the Bolton game I have felt the opposite. In that game, and almost every one since, we have had pace to be scared of.
Players are much faster in this league, both with their feet, and with their speed of thought - and our defence is struggling to cope. That is why there is only one or two teams that have conceded more goals than us!
I think we've ridden our luck up until now, with late goals and gutsy fightbacks. All very commendable, but now it seems our luck is out.
The truth is we haven't rolled anyone over, winning only one game by more than a single goal. Oldham aside, we've not controlled any game such that we look like we'll definitely win. Each game has been a rollercoaster where we look frail at the back and that it could go either way.
I think inside DC knows he hasn't got the personel for top 6. In recent interviews he has referenced last season's "massive over-achievement" and how this squad has only cost him 50K (presumably what we paid for Gaffney).
I think we're good enough to stay up, but anything more must be seen as a bonus. I'd love to be wrong but we're neither strong enough at the back, nor ruthless enough in front of goal to be top 6 this time around.
This isn't a knee-jerk reaction to last nights pityful display. Like I said, I've felt like this since the Bolton game.

Like I said, I've felt like this since tge Bolton game. i felt the same after watching the first half of Bolton game, but the second half we more than matched them and should of had a draw Despite losing that game I was upbeat from the way we came back,it's always the same a massive overreaction based on a few results Millwall the ref f**ked us over We should of beaten mkdonalds but drew Yesterday was a freak result simple as that,if they shot from the halfway line it would of flown in the top corner Charlton will probably lose on Saturday now,i wasn't impressed with them at all it just all went right for them and sh** for us Just one of those days, were smash the spirerites on Saturday and all will seem a lot better We're just outside play offs not rock bottom Utg

Making 5 or 6 changes every match, just to keep players happy IMO is ridiculous. Dc is faced with losing Matt in the January window and needs to be thinking about some new players, particularly a goalscorer, a winger, we have not got one and definitely a goalkeeper Roos and Puddy are not good enough and Mildy is crocked.

I posted the same comments on Tuesday evening and was slated. We are exposed at the back that has been obvious all season however I do beleive with a couple of experienced defenders we will be ok. Consolidation has to be the reality this season there again I really think throughout the squad we are better than that. See you all at Chesterfeild on Saturday where we will bounce back UTG
