Good piece. However, if you had gone to Altrincham you would have condoned the anger that came from many of us. I wish I'd been in North Carolina! UTG

Good piece Nicl,
I have to say though that Geoff certainly put himself up for criticism by his own posts on twitter. He was guilty of undermining the chairman and of talking in code at times plus he could get very personal. If you do that then you have to expect it back. His threats of legal action became a damned joke. Having said that I thank his father for saving us as a club and for always having time to talk with me and others. Denis and his wife were fantastic people who truly had the club at heart. He played golf in only a polo shirt, however inclement the weather and was a fit, strong willed man who will always have a kind word from me. I always felt Geoff rode on his coat tails. His use of the w**ker emoticon was legendary and he was very dismissive of many. There is no comparing the two. I know you probably did not want to go into that side of him Nick. It was a non story really, as I see it anyway. He owns the Mem so ergo the future of our club still rests upon him. We shall see if those who have said they would not have anything to do with the club while he was a director, will do so now. Geoff probably started with the best intent but failed in the long run. Many will say otherwise as it's a contentious one. I hope we do now see new investment but I fear that the conditions put upon any prospect would put them off.

There is a lesson here that if you use social media to express your opinions don't be surprised if they bite you back. I was only commenting on possible reasons for his withdrawal, not suggesting that fans had forced him out. I don't think Mr Higgs is on twitter, despite his pleas for an IT expert on the board!
