I thought Taylor looked lazy, disinterested, and had his mind elsewhere.

oliver mcburnie 20 years old who has struggled to score goals in league football so far. matt green 29 year old with a decent goal record in league 2 and no success above that level. matt taylor goals galore for us,superb saturday, lovely control, accurate passing, worked hard, came deep to make things happen, very unlucky not to score. the scouts were watching v Cov that's why he tried harder If it was about the scouts- I don't think he'd pass up the opportunity to score a penalty. People always want to rate Matty 10 or nothing. He had a solid game, nothing too noteworthy when others played very well.

I have known Matthew since he was 9 years old, he grew up with my kids and played 5 years for me as a youth, ironically I sent him a text prior to Christmas saying "we will need a quality striker in January" When we played Birmingham a couple of years ago he would have played against us unfortunately he was injured which wiped out his 2 year stay there however he recovered fully, very quick, strong and a great attitude.

Scoring a penalty would only help his chances.

I thought Taylor looked lazy, disinterested, and had his mind elsewhere. Not for me. Taylor has looked lazy often even last season but he gets the goals often, just going through a bit of a barren spell at the moment in my opinion and some people like yourself putting 2+2 together and making 5.

People said this "looks lazy" bullsh1t about Devon White, Roberts, Walker and Lambert. Anyone would think that maybe, just maybe, dashing the f*ck around like wee willy winky in his jim-jams isn't what you need to demonstrate to be an effective striker.

The thing you're criticising him for isn't a valid criticism. Alternatively instead of chasing round like a dog in the park he could be in a good position to receive balls from the players whose role it is to collect them in the middle third - the second goal v Coventry for example. Each individual fulfilling the role they're there to perform. Isn't that a better description of team work?

we all see a different game don't we. I thought Taylor was ok. Some of his touches and link up play were first class AGAIN.
That is the sort of thing the Scouts will be interested in. not how far he ran

It's just the easy thing to post about Taylor, that he is 'lazy'. He played very well, strong on the ball, always in space but definitely should have scored the header.
Just because he isn't running around like a maniac doesn't make him.lazy. Gaffney is very rarely slated on here, I assume because he runs around a lot? Running lots doesn't constitute working hard for me. It's just brainless. I'd rather he worked hard to be in the right position or to find the right pass.

There's no point putting yourself in a good position if your team hasn't got the ball,if he loses the ball he puts no pressure on the defenders so I makes it so easy for them and gives them bags of time If he puts pressure on them they are rushed and likely to give the ball away, maybe the midfield are at fault too sometimes they sit too deep

Anyone would think that maybe, just maybe, dashing the f*ck around like wee willy winky in his jim-jams isn't what you need to demonstrate to be an effective striker. Exactly this. MT puts in twice as much running as Lambert used to. Taylor's work rate seems to have gone down each year since he joined us, yet his goals to game ratio has gone up. The best players in the world (I'm not saying MT is one of these by the way) do very little work off the ball, because it is all about conserving their energy and being in the right place to score goals when in attack. This is where they are most valuable to their team. Someone running around like a headless chicken may seem brilliant to watch, but it isn't necessarily the most effective way to success. Hence, people saying that the midfield looked better on Monday without Sinclair in it. UTG!

Problem is it's not just running around but his whole body language suggests sometimes he's not interested/lacking motivation i.e. Shrewsbury, compared to other games i.e. Coventry, although what's the betting if did move to a bigger club he'd be darting around all over the place again, or perhaps he just doesn't play well alongside Gaffney, as he looked far better when Ellis came on.

Like most forwards
