Are we being offended on somebody else's behalf here? Has the Girls Football Federation reacted in outrage? Does it really matter at all? Do people seriously pick up on anything said to call a card of some sort! The bloke apologised which probably attracted more attention than the original statement. The BBC do, they are literally desperate for any imagined sexism so they can exclaim - "see, that's what my social studies professed was talking about - Patriachy! Patriachy!" They will take offence to anything so long as it was said by a white heterosexual male. Especially working class ones. Or drive a white van, I have two ! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Yes a poor L1 professional mens team, its actually a compliment as how many women would compete in L1?! Anyway he probably meant to say boys but the wrong word came out. Hard to backtrack when you are being interviewed live. Why don't you listen to the interview before posting? He says "it was men against girls not boys" implying that all women are bad footballers compared to their male counterparts. There is no way that he meant it to be a compliment and I can't see why you feel the need to keep defending him. At the end of the day I really couldn't give 2 shits about Rob Page. Anyway i've seen women's football numerous times and I would say that if that's what Page meant, he is probably right, but not the thing to say in public.

So that (maybe) is the entire bottom ten (except bottom club Oldham) who have lost the manager they started the season with.

Harsh. They were doing really well until November. Just one bad run and you can be out on your ear.

Their fans on Cobblers Corner have been screaming out for him to be sacked.
Just shows we weren't the only ones moaning despite recent success.
They did look water poor on Sat though, but then so have we at times.

I believe he wasn't allowed to have the same sort of budget as Mr Wilder and hence their decline, personally I think this whole thread is about perceived sexist abuse more than deliberate. He apologised and has since been given the old heave ho; total non story now in my opinion.

I don't see how it could have been men against girls as surely they're in the kitchen?

He was previously at Port Vale. Also near me Crewe have sacked their manager to-day.Capt' Ryan Lowe not happy he wasn't considered as a replacement.Glad we have a stable management team .Worth a lot.Danny Wilson has left Chesterfield too but reckon DC is irreplaceable for us and now sufficiently immersed in our club's folklore to be very special. Hope no-one goes for Marcus or Steve. They are essential to our continuing progress.Remember watching Marcus after we'd won at places like Telford and Nuneaton(both since relegated).) He was great to have on our side and as former Gas players, they are both very special ingredients in our continuing upward journey.

I still maintain it's a bit harsh. They had won 2 out of 3 matches up to Boxing Day and seemed to be stopping the rot before a nightmare run of games - away to Sheff Utd (top), home to Bradford (4th) and away to us (great home record). I think it is not easy for the fans and the manager to look at the table and see that their old manager is top with his new club, and this probably played a role too. But, ultimately, Northampton are still 8 points off the relegation places and I don't necessarily believe it was time to panic just yet. Wilder did a great job with them and when a new boss takes over from a successful manager it's always tough, think Martin Cameron for us. When DC goes he will be extremely tough for us to replace, but that all said, I think Northampton should be happy to just consolidate in the division this year, just as I would be happy for us to do so, though we are all having a sneaky look up the table now, obviously!

Replacing DC is a nightmare I don't wish to contemplate.
The only man I think might be up to the job is Jurgen Klopp, and I don't think he's ready until Liverpool win the Prem again.

Ha! Yes - the memory is a bit dodgy these days. No surprise I muddled the names Dobson and Cameron - both lady gardens!

Yes it is harsh. They're not doing too bad in table and once Wilder went it was likely to be hard to replace. But I think they've lost 9/11 or something similar and fans aren't happy so I suppose losing 4-0 after 30 minutes was the final straw. The comment led to bad publicity and it just went pear shape after that. They were hit with bad injuries in defence before the match and then lost their CH at half time, not that losing him affected the result. According to their forum he had also lost the dressing room with some of last years heroes shipped out. When that happens and you don't win there's usually only one result, the manager goes. Just shows how quickly it can go wrong. Mind you with some of the heavy defeats we've had I hope it shows DC what good, sensible owners we have who will give him time and won't react in short term. The problem will come if he is ever poached and moves on, as you say big boots to fill. But I guess the big difference is that DC has earnt whatever time he gets after any bad run we have. Page hadn't earnt anything. UTG!
