Unbelievable if it's only 300k, don't know were that number came from but I would say he's worth 2 million+

IF it happens I just ask for 1 thing - for BRFC to end speculation and tell us how much they got for him and if it was a release clause and no-one else interested. I realise it's usually secret but not this time please we won't know the transfer fee until the next set of accounts, but I agree we deserve to know if any other clubs met the apparent clause

Personally, would rather have let him go and got someone in the summer than received £300k with one day to replace him. £300k doesn't make sense though. Bids of up to £1m have been turned down for Bogle, why wouldn't they come in for Taylor at a third of the price?agreed it's bizarre. Just when you think football has got more logical (moneyball etc) and everyone knows who the best scorers are (look at MT's minutes per goal - they are staggering) weird stuff like this happens. ditto Rickie Lambert - why were Soton the only team really interested in him? Joint top scorer in lge 1 with a staggering 29 goals. free kick taker, pen taker, leader, scorer, assist maker, header, shooter. BTW - fed up of Bogle talk - the time to 'find' him was when he was in non-lge, not now. any fool can look down a list of top scorers in Lge 2 or Lge 1 and then go out and buy him. ditto andre grey, dwight gayle, etc Huddersfield were interested in RL too. £1m + add ons was about the going rate when he left nearly a decade ago. The point about Bogle is Championship clubs have clearly missed out on him and have not gone in for Taylor at 1/3 of the price??? It makes no sense and I'm inclined to believe £300k is wrong.

Has there ever been any concrete proof that it's £300k?

When everyone calms down we can probably agree that if we had a decent stadium and decent trg / academy facilities players wouldn't leave us. (assuming we are also paying competitive wages of course...)
THAT'S THE BIG ISSUE.
if stuff like this happens in 5 years time that's the time I'll get mad.

Me too. If the release clause was £300k you would have a queue of clubs waiting to sign him and most of them bigger and better than City

Just out the interest, how would people feel if the release clause was north of 1 million?

Has there ever been any concrete proof that it's £300k? Only what the sports journalists are saying and I guess the information is disclosed by the agent (or that friend of Matty Taylor's girl friend who seems a very reliable source)

For once I think it would be in the clubs best interests to disclose the figure if it is a reasonable sum. Otherwise people are just going to assume the £300k figure is correct and that is the most disappointing thing about him leaving imo.

Unfortunately this is where years of going nowhere gets us. Unfortunate for WAQ and Co that they're going to take all the flack for this.

Clearly tbone's fault. Hounded him out of the club eventually... I'll be joining the t bone club, all is forgiven! Tbone will be switching sides, too, so he can continue his support of Matty.

He's going to get slaughtered by Sh1!heads if he doesn't start scoring straight away. Gets what he deserves I guess. Yeah, I wonder if he asked Stewie about this.

Are we officially in meltdown now? Maybe he's winding them up and he's going to pull out at the last minute :-)

Just out the interest, how would people feel if the release clause was north of 1 million? Anything less than a mil will be gutting because of the silly money that floats about these days. If City have given us £1m+ then good luck to them because it obviously means they see him as a solution to their goalscoring woes and that is a big gamble considering their precarious position. If it's anything less then it smacks of Lansdown trying to chuck money at another problem, namely that the "gap" has been narrowed considerably of late.
