If more than one team bid more than the release clause it becomes a bidding war and Taylor will take the largest bid because he gets 10% of the Fee.... Common somebody bid £2m Ass about face a bit there pal, the signing on fee isn't a set % of the fee, its whatever the player and buying club negotiate

I haven't read the whole thread but apparently Taylor has had loads of abuse and name calling on here, I really hope it's not true, if it wasn't for him we'd still be in non league, hoping its just my shithead mate stirring things up. It if wasn't for us, he would still be in non-league.

Common somebody bid £2m Or the club would just bid the £300k (if this is the minimum) and give Taylor a bigger signing on fee, meaning Taylor gets more money, the buying team pays less, and the only losers are us?

Is that something unique to the Premier league ?

we have problem here if James does play & start scoring regularly ( big if ! ) he's not our player and he would either go back to Peterborough or hike up any transfer fee probably above what we would be willing to pay? So I believe we need to sign another striker and in the next 9 hours, no problem over to you DC! Should have agreed an option price for purchase as part of loan agreement...remember DC mentioning an option. Rory Gaffney.

Stop press - Agent Taylor strings them along for 7 more hours then doesn't sign for them. But has got himself trending on twitter and has alerted all the big clubs to the release clause for a big summer move. AND he takes the plate of biscuits home with him on the way out and makes them pay for his bus fare home. Well done matty

It if wasn't for us, he would still be in non-league. If it wasn't for him WE'D still be in non-league Highly debatable.

If he helps City to stay up and by not being here, costs us a possible promotion, it'll be the best £300k Lansdown has ever spent. The two sides swapping leagues next season would be a PR and financial disaster for City.

Good luck to MT wherever he ends up. Seems like nice chap who has the potential to set himself up for life. He's proven at this level so I can understand C@£y think he'll be and ideal fit for their attempt next season to get back into the championship. A championship player? Unlikely. But good luck to him.

I've not read the whole thread BUT, I thought the release clause figure people have been quoting, is just a minimum bid a club would have to table BEFORE they would be allowed (by parent club BRFC) to talk to MT (or his agent). The actual sale figure could be anything... The board could say yeah go talk to the fella... but we aint selling for anything less than X pounds. Or is that completely wrong?

Although I have no doubt MT is going I'm surprised sky sport news are not even mentioning it at all. we are very small fry compared to what they care about. and so are cityTBH. they just care about the £ signs

Surely in today's market less than 2 million is a steal! I don't mind him leaving but just not to the sh"t! I wouldn't even let byron Moore or puddy go there! There's no question of that. but £300k or nothing? Him going to City is irrelevant. When the contract was signed, it wouldn't have been a release clause of of £300k and for City to buy him in January. It's just unfortunate if it is them that activate it and not another team. hopefully his time at us and growing to who he is with us will count in our favour! Surely he knows he can't sign for them without repercussions! UTG!

Certainly makes DCs comments look ridiculous if he leaves for 300k. Of course it could have been to put people off and try and keep them unaware of him having a release clause, but still. I just can't see how at 300k we've not been absolutely inundated with offers - surely 20-30 clubs would have been interested at that price? The only thing I can think of is MT's agent has made it clear he won't consider any offers under £x per week and the 82ers are the only ones daft enough to pay that, let's be honest on present form we won't miss MT but whether he's just been going though the motions or not lately we'll find out over the next few months, wasn't MK Dons away is last match winning performance? Small point in the great scheme of things at present but we did not win at MK Dons.
