The Tevez and West Ham debacle didn't end up in a points deduction, unfortunately, or do different rules app!y between the Premiership and football League?

Wycombe Wanderers Fined £10000 for Agent Rule Breachby Hants on Wednesday, May 21st, 2014 The FA have investigated a breach of player/agent rules by Wycombe Wanderers and have taken disciplinary action against the Club. In the statement by the FA they have said:- Wycombe Wanderers have been fined £10,000 and warned as to their future conduct after they admitted breaching The FA’s regulations in relation to player agent activity. With regards to the same matter, football agent Phil Smith has had his agent’s licence wycombe_scoreboardsuspended with immediate effect for two years, 18 months of which has been suspended for two years. The suspended element of this sanction will be invoked in full upon a proven breach of The FA football agent regulations during that period. Smith, who denied the breaches was also warned as to his future conduct following the Independent Regulatory Commission hearing. Wycombe have issued the following statement in response:- Wycombe Wanderers Football Club has been issued with a fine of £10,000 for a breach of C2 of The FA’s Football Agents Regulations, in relation to the original sale of Matt Phillips to Blackpool in the summer of 2010. During Wycombe Wanderers Trust’s period of due diligence of the club during its acquisition in 2012, they were assured there would be no outstanding liabilities in respect of this, or any other, transaction carried out by the previous management. We now understand this not to be the case. The Football Club has cooperated in full with the FA, acting in good faith and bringing the matter to the attention of the authorities once the irregularities were discovered in September 2013. At no point before, during or after the investigation has the club attempted to deceive or conceal information from the FA. Whilst the charge is related to the time of the previous owner, and that the £10,000 fine is a direct result of the action of those previously associated with the club, Wycombe Wanderers and Wycombe Wanderers Trust accept the charge and will not be making an appeal. www.exeweb.com/2014/05/21/wycombe-wanderers-fined-10000-for-agent-rule-breach/

I'm not excited by this or anything, I'm ready to watch conference football next season. But it is pretty damn exciting.
Christ we really do not get along with Wycombe do we. They cancel games where we're winning, we get reported for invading the pitch, lalalala

The more I think about it the more I think it could just be a way of getting some sort of financial compensation deal to compensate for the losses gained by getting relegated. We might be rewarded with some sort of package, which would be more realistic than actually being reinstated.

BREAKING NEWS: Bristol Rovers to question Wycombe Wanderers punishment for rule breachBy The Bristol Post | Posted: May 27, 2014 Bristol Rovers Bristol Rovers have this afternoon released a statement on their official website questioning Wycombe Wanderers' rule breach on Third Party Ownership. Wycombe, on points difference, managed to stay in Sky Bet League Two following a 3-0 win over Torquay United on the last day of the season, while Rovers fell to a 1-0 defeat against Mansfield which send them down into the Conference. The statement on Bristol Rovers' official website says: It has come to the attention of Bristol Rovers FC that Wycombe Wanderers FC appear to have breached FA rules on Third Party Ownership. It’s current Chairman, in giving evidence at a recent FA Disciplinary Hearing, appears to have admitted a serious breach in respect of the player, Matt Phillips (and possibly other players). The result of this led to Wycombe wrongfully obtaining a competitive advantage over Bristol Rovers. Without this, Wycombe rather than Bristol Rovers could have been relegated. Bristol Rovers were relegated merely on goal difference, and as the breach, if proven, would have almost certainly led to a points deduction, Bristol Rovers have instructed specialist sports lawyers together with Nick De Marco, a leading sports barrister, to draft and send a complaint to both The Football League and The Football Association. New signing? - Nick De MarcoNick De Marco is recognised by leading independent legal directory, Chambers UK 2014, as the (joint) leading junior barrister in Sports Law (band 1) in the UK which says he "adopts unusual but highly attractive stances when handling his cases, and comes up with points the average counsel would struggle to think of" and "he's both urbane and technically very good." Chambers UK 2013 had previously described him as having ‘cemented his position as "a go-to junior on any football regulatory issue”…’ He is also ranked by Chambers UK 2014 as one of the UK’s leading barristers in Employment law (band 2). The Directory commented that "he's very commercial, very good with clients and a great advocate." Nick is rated as one of the leading juniors in Employment and Media, Entertainment & Sport in the Legal 500 2013. www.blackstonechambers.com/people/barristers/nick_de_marco.htmlTwitter - twitter.com/nickdemarcofoto

I'd love to be proven wrong, but I can only see us coming out of this looking like bad losers.

do you suppose our barrister might be telling us we've got every chance of getting a result out of this, when secretly he knows we've got no chance and he really would like a holiday in Dubai....

If the offence has already been dealt with by the FA resulting in a fine how can the club talk about a points deduction? The fact the offence occurred in 2010 doesn't help either!

Thinking about this logically we do not have a hope in hell of getting a reprieve through a Chairboys points deduction for the 2013/14 season.
However, there is a possibility in a worst case scenario for Wycombe (if there are other players involved) that they could end up with a further fine and points deduction for the 2014/15 season.
It would be interesting (and costly for us) if the issue went to arbitration and was not cleared before the start of the 2014/15 season.
In my view I would have preferred for us to accept relegation gracefully and not to clutch at straws.

Imagine if by some miracle they did get relegated and we got reinstated, the statement from the board would be along the lines of "that's it, inquest over. We got relegated because of Wycombe. No need for further investigation. Our club is amazing and run perfectly. Fans Q&A sessions now pointless. We told you relegation was not an option. We Rule. Up the Board"

Has Roadman made it over here yet?
Would be very interested to see what he thinks.
Personally, like most, it just smacks of desperation to me. But who knows, this is the circus ring of BRFC!!

This is not going to go away. We have both Rovers AND the agent's agency on our backs. And we've admitted guilt so we can't exactly talk ourselves out of it. And the whole thing came to light during this season just gone, so is relevant to this campaign due to the money we got for cancelling the dodgy sell-on clause with Blackpool, which in turn gave us a competitive advantage this season - all stemming from the original breach of rules.
