I thought he was excellent when he came on. Very impressive especially against a top team. Ball control, thinking, passing, running off the ball, tackling back and a great shot which produced a great save. Well done Monty

I think still that he could be a great player if only DC rated him as much as he seems to rate Sinclair. IMO Monty is a much better player and even Saturday when he didn't play as well as last night he still had more shots than Gaffney or Harrison. He has that little bit of magic and vision which seems to go unnoticed and at least has the ability to beat players which few of our forward players have and he works his socks off to provide cover for Brwon and how many have noticed how good he is in the air. He might even be worth giving a go up front!!

We looked so much sharper going forward and he and Brown linked up very well down the left hand side. I think Moore had his best game in a Rovers shirt as well, although he still looks unfit/lacking match sharpness. I was baffled that Sinclair came off and Gaffney stayed on as we lost our bite in the middle with Sinclair’s departure and Gaffney was beyond awful for 85 of the 90+ minutes he was on the pitch.

Bodin was like this at the start of his spell but seems to have fiound a stride. Montano never really has. The reason why DC rates Sinclair is because he is very consistent at doing the job required of him.

DC got the tactics spot on with the introduction of Monty and Moore who really changed the whole complexion of the game. Sheff Utd didn't really know what to do when we went 4-4-2 and that extra width gave us an additional attacking threat which almost won it for us. Monty was very good I agree when he came on but I'm glad he was introduced after an hour and not starting. I'd much prefer to see the narrower 4-3-3 to start with in these sorts of games and then spring the attack on the oppo later on with 2 fresh wingers.
I'd like to see more of Monty though, last season he didn't really get going till about this time so maybe we will see that again this time round.

I think we generally look at our best with Monty on one side giving us width and Bodin on the other cutting in but I can understand why he's been starting Sinclair in these tough games.

UTG DC had a game plan which involved switching to 4-4-2 after an hour. The effectiveness of the game plan was based on our ability to tire out the opposition and finish the game strongly, which is exactly what happened. Some will say 'why didn't Montano start and we play a 4-4-2 from the start', but given our lack of striking options and the quality of the opposition, there has to be a good chance we would have had our asses thrashed if we had gone that way. As it is, we could well have won it at the death. Well done, DC. He seems to have got it spot on with personnel and tactics last night.

Yeah, when he made the substitutions (especially taking off Sincs who seemed to be our most important defender), I said, if this works then DC is a genius. And it so very nearly did.

I think bringing the wingers on after an hour was planned,dc has used this ploy so many times bringing quick wide players on against tiring opponents and its often paid off. sinclair worked and pressed in midfield to help make sure we stayed in the game and the wingers came on to try and win it,and it very nearly worked. Montano and to a lesser extent moore were excellent when they came on.

UTG Well we went 4-4-2 which definitely had an effect. I don’t think we were better because Sinclair came off but rather because Monty came on and had Monty replaced Gaffney instead of Sincs then I think we would have been better still. However that’s nothing more than speculation and there’s no way of knowing what would have happened had that change been made. What I do know is that it was a cracker of a match and 12/13 of our boys had really good games and I don’t think you can ask for much more than that against the league leaders.

It was noticeable they brought on another defender after our switch to 4-4-2, we certainly went after them late on - UTG

You don't have to actively dislike Sinclair in order to like Montano - stevek and Henbury (especially) please take note. I like 'em both - in their particular (and different) roles.

The Monty last night was about a million miles away from the one that played Saturday!
Does he have a twin? I only ask because the one on Saturday wouldn't have got into our conference side, but the one last night was immense, he had a touch and everything!

Montano was immense last night and was a big influence in swinging the game in our favour.
I am a big fan of Montano, he's quick, got neat feet and can put a good delivery in.
However, what frustrates me with him at times is defensively where he seems to half heartedly try and win things at times and I would imagine this along with DC changing formations a lot are the two reasons why he doesn't play more games.
