It's time to start worrying. Germany are beginning to take Rugby seriously. Rugby is a game the Germans love to watch. It appeals to them. Now, their national rugby team are looking to qualify for the World Cup in Japan. Last week they beat Romania for the first time. Their next qualifier is against Belgium, and I'll go and watch that as the game is being played about three kilometers from where I live!
England v Germany in International Rugby.........it will literally be a whole new ball game !

England v Germany in International Rugby.........it will literally be a whole new ball game ! I remember watching a piece on BBC news last year, it was about German rugby. They showed a club match, I was surprised by how many fans were there to watch a club game in Germany. They were interviewing the fans after, not only was I surprised how well they spoke English, I was surprised too at how well they knew the rules. Rugby, like cricket has previously been played by the countries of the British empire, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand etc. Now it seems a whole new load of countries are playing it. Spain, Georgia, Canada, Portugal to name a few. The more countries that play it the better as far as I'm concerned. On a side note, the rugby World cup is the 3rd most watched programme on TV after the World cup & Olympics. Seems rugby truly is global now.

I'd love rugby to replace American football over there. Never going to happen of course, because of the massive investments by advertisers and sponsors, but I think it could grow and grow if enough people realise that team sports like "sawker" and their versiion of football shouldn't extend to three hours because they have to fit in the multiple advertising breaks and a song from Katy Perry.

Point one, and I think this is the biggest point.... "sawker" and their versiion of football" your words..... has absolutely nothing to do with rugby, rugby being the point of the thread "Germany & rugby".... I could go on even more, but I don't want to embarrass you.

The thread is about rugby becoming popular in Germany. I said I'd like to see it become popular in America. Sorry if my opinions upset you.
