Welcome to Mumsnet.
Just noticed a new Dyson hairdryer.
Compact, light, attachments clip on magnetically, and it dries one's barnet in half the time the others can manage.
Excellent, Sir James.
Cost: £299.
He's having a laugh isn't he?

fer 50p fella i can dry yer mrs hair in a jiffy, sinmple just put the terminals from a plug in a socket, get her to put her tongue on the 2 bottom pins (hold the main fuse board trip for a few seconds) tell her to switch on instant hair dry leave for a few seconds and get a nice perm leave for a minute and youll have to buy some ronseal to preserve the top of skull that will be outside the skin, so remember 20 secs max nice tight perm and dry

Not exactly that but yes got many a belt from mains over the years, heres a couple, bedroom lamp went when i was a kid so took bulb out and stuck wet finger in to see if there was power like a 9v battery(din't understand the differance betwixt ac and dc, did this stop me nope Renewing lamps in friends bathroom as they were old and several were out, asked friend to put out the upstairs light trip, all lights went out, started to work on the neaest lamp and f**kin ell started doing the shakey dance and fell out the loft. the reason some lamps were out is some doss lady garden had wired one set of lights to the old immersion heater switcch on the landing. At work was explainig to a tech how all the heat sinks were live he laughed and said yeah right your trying to get me you git, i said nope they are live so he weys his finger and grabs the heatsink,he was lucky as i managed to pull the mains cable whilst laughing hysterically. even more stupid was spark plug cap on bike was damaged so as it was a field bike it wasnt on the list of prioty things to sort out, unscrewed terminal nut on plug stripped bak wire and fixed on plug, great it worked, forgot to replace kill switch, so bike wouldnt switch off,at this point someone even thicker than an ameoba would have popped it in gear and stalled it, nope not me even though bike was in gear and clutch was held in this idiot decided for reason unknown to anybody to kick the ht lead off the plug, however soaking wet dampd ,tight frame, yup i got my foot stuck betwwen the spark plug and lead, dropped the clutch ,bike took off like a demon possesed across the field, my god did that hurt my foot, luckily the lead moved and the engine died. look back on that one and still laugh about it today as it was so stupid ,did i learn to respect electricity nope not yet

I don't know, but I do know hair straighteners don't and the nurses in A&E don't seem to give a f**k about that fact.
