Lumley 7.5 quiet 1st half but showed good concentration with good save from free kick after...nice and vocal
Leadbitter 7.5 better defending today, always a threat going other way Lockyer 8.5 outstanding..attacked almost everything Sweeney 7.5 ok first half but terrific after the break Brown 7 solid and looks refreshed
Bodin 8 the whole ground knows what will happen including their side, yet almost impossible to stop when he cuts in on his left..good workrate today Mansell 7.5 solid looked like he's played alot more...age no barrier Lines 7 not his best but worked hard second half Montano 7 some very good things, one heartstopping moment but worked hard
James 8 very good...surprisingly in the air also...lovely touches, good player here Gaffney 8.5 very good...looked like the confident Gaffer's when on loan here
Subs: Moore 7 solid, kept it simple J. Clarke 7 won't let you down, good change imo to deal with their direct second half approach Clarke-Salter nole
Crowd 7 good, got behind the boys when side needed it after the break Ref 3 match didn't need reffing first half but he made a dogs dinner second half...very inconsistent and seemed to want to speak to every player going!! Southend 4 woeful first half probably down to us but then just lumped everything forward after. Alot of pressure but felt comfortable

Lumley 8. One awesome save but did everything right and very reassuring to the other players
Leadbitter 7. Great first half Lockyer 9. MoM has to go to a defender after that display and Tom was the pick of the bunch Sweeney 8. Awesome in the air, but looked a little unsteady with the ball on the ground on a couple of occasions Brown 7. Can't say I really noticed Browner yesterday. I guess he did his job without standing out.
Bodin 8. Great goal, great defensively which is a huge bonus as this has developed this season Mansell 8. A great return, just ran out of steam a little towards the end. Lines 7. Less freedom in a 2 man midfield, did the grafting required Montano 7
James 8. Great effort and went close. Gaffney 8. Excellent first half, really struggled to get in the game in the second.
Subs: Moore 6 J. Clarke 6
Crowd 9. An early goal always helps Ref 4 Southend 7. They were a good side. We were better first half and held on second half

Lumley 8 - Solid, can only dream where we would be if we'd had him all season!
Leadbitter 7 - Played well, some good crosses Lockyer 7 - some dodgy moments, but recovered where necessary. Sweeney 7 - some unnecssary dodgy pass backs to keeper, but other than that usual solid performance. Brown 7 - played well, nice to have him back,
Bodin 8 - Great strike in the first few minutes, it's normally us that get's caught not being focused in the first half. Played well the rest of the game two. Mansell 7 - Solid performance, gives the team that calming presence, need's to try and keep the ball down rather than skying it. Lines 7.5 - Very good game, some nice attempts to drive the ball forward. Montano 7 - looked good, got in some good positions, shame he couldn't put the ball in the back of the net, but if he could hit the ball right in front of goal he wouldn't be a winger!
James 7 - good effort, shame to hit the bar again, really want him to put one away and start a run. Gaffney 8 - Glad to see he has his confidence back, had no right attempting that shot, but thats the sort of goal last year's Gaffney would attempt/put away.
Subs: Moore 7 - Looks like a different player to the one that played nearly a month ago, seems to of found some confidence, and it's showing. J. Clarke 7 - looked solid, could do with driving forward a little more, but might not have the same pace as Leads to get back in time if a counter occurs. Clarke-Salter NOLE - Good to see he's recovered.
Crowd 6 - Was ok, some quiet periods (especially in the East where I stand). Ref 5 - Loved to blow that whistle, didn't do much wrong, just stopped play more often than he had too. Southend 5 - totally out matched first half, subs did help, but still struggled to break past the back four and even then weren't going to get much luck with Lumley.

Results in, and Rory Gaffney was Man of the Match with a score of 8.15 narrowly beating Tom Lockyer's 8.12.
This was Gaffney's 10th MotM in his time at Rovers. The only other players to have 10 in the two and a half years of these threads are Lockyer (16), Lines, Sinclair and Taylor (all 12) and Parkes (11).
Gaffney achieved this in only 57 games meaning he has been MotM in 18% of his appearances. This is the second highest percentage for players who have appeared in more than ten games. Neal Trotman was MotM in 29% of his apperances (6 out of 21).
Currently third on that list is the forgotten Dave Martin who was MotM in 16% of his games (3/19). Lumley could top this list soon though as he has been MotM in 3 of his 10 appearances.
The starting XI average was 7.40, the fourth highest rating of the season behind the last two games (Bolton and Oxford) and the home game against Northampton.
Lumley 7.9
Leadbitter 6.9 Lockyer 8.1 Sweeney 7.8 Brown 7.0
Bodin 7.6 Mansell 7.2 Lines 6.8 Montano 6.6
James 7.4 Gaffney 8.1
Subs: Moore 6.3 J. Clarke 6.4 Clarke-Salter 5.0
Crowd 7.4 Ref 4.1 Southend 5.8
