What a shame. They actually wrote some well researched articles about Rovers over the years. Unlike that other local excuse for journalism.

If I remember rightly this is mainly an ads paper with virtually no coverage of anything.

Haven't read a copy this millennium as I have been living away from the region, but it was excellent in the '90s on football and cricket, with comprehensive coverage of the bigger teams in the area and willing to delve much deeper into the non-league game than the Post or the Preas ever did. A big shame and really, a sign that quality regional newspapers are on their way out.

Sad news for local journalism. Always had very comprehensive coverage of all West Country sport. Will particularly miss Richard Latham's honest reporting and Mark Leesdad's 'Where Are They Now?' articles. Also the exhaustive listing of the forthcoming week's fixtures; both local and national.

I didn't buy the Sunday Independent so I don't know if the articles in the prog are exactly the same as in the paper.

I used to love the sunday independent, although plymouth based always had good long articles about the bristol clubs. When i was playing they had a very comprehensive coverage of western league, southern league and other semi-pro and amateur leagues which i enjoyed. I guess the internet has played a part in the papers decline,i dont read papers now.

Just as 'Video killed the Radio Star' as the Buggles song goes...it seems that Internet is killing good Journalism and we have only ourselves to blame.
