All good news - wonder if any money is being spent on any capacity improvements on top of the current tented facilities

Yet more evidence that we aren't going anywhere anytime soon. You really need to start believing. UWE is going to happen. I can never understand why you keep on with this view that the whole thing is dead in the water, and even if you do, try to stay positive. Despite City having more money to spend than Rovers for most of their history, the constant negativity has always placed them only just above us. Positivity helps the team more than you will ever know.

I suspect this is meant to be a "good news" story - with a hint of "look at us, we're putting £100k into the club". But to me it puts (more) doubt into my mind as to whether the UWE will go ahead, and creates an excuse for a reduced playing budget next season.
I have to disagree it looks like a good news story because it is a good story.
For years we have complained about being a rag ass team with terrible facilities. For the first time in decades we finally have an owner that recognises that good facilities and infrastructure leads to greater chances of success and we undermine it straight away.
We all want the stadium to be built but we can't get caught in the trap that lead us to relegation to non-league ''It was all stadium stadium stadium, but we all forget about the first team''
My first reaction was it's a bit like forking out to replace a non-leeky roof on a house when you're about to put it on the market. I prefer your take on it though, and hopefully it has no connection to UWE progress or impact on DC's playing budget.

I don't think this has any great bearing on UWE or not as e are going to be at The Mem for at least the next 2 seasons. I see it as a positive move given we have been lucky with the weather this year and also given DC pays a lot of attention to both our home pitch and away pitches we play on. I think new drainage and some re decorations of the stadium are short term fixes to keep us going for that couple of years min we spend at The Mem. Massively positive in my opinion that the new owners are wanting the best they can for the club and its supporters whilst we remain at The Mem. Don't forget that some of this could be grant money and any money spent can be written off against profits or to increase losses so its not a huge amount of money in the scheme of things! Pah, course not. The Al-Qadi's don't have any money, are only loaning us money and charging us interest on everything, blah, blah, blah You can't lend money unless you have it to lend...

Come on Peter, no one is being critical here. We've been in the dark about the new stadium for a long while now so it's no surprise that stories like these are analysed to death. Maybe we haven't heard much, but we have clearly been told August is the deadline to sort something. Hang on a couple of months and we should know one way or the other I don't know what to think about the stadium anymore so I'm somewhat resigned to more waiting, but reading that... article? press release? I can't help but feel that foundations are being laid for bad news and not a new stadium. That's not to say that I don't feel that we're still moving in the right direction.

i think now is the time we have to be resigned to the fact, that unless we hear something soon, the UWE project to build a new stadium for Bristol Rover will be abandoned. No other football club in world football has waited to long to get a new stadium built. Quite honestly this is embarrassing and a kick in the teeth for all us gasheads who were whooping with joy 4 years ago. Since then we have had the lost fight with Sainsburys and now it seems that we cannot even negotiate with UWE. This Is a sorry state of affairs. I find it very strange that we now don't receive any news regarding the negotiations with UWE. Are they even talking to each other? I have a funny feeling that this is not happening. We have now been at the Memorial Stadium for 21 years, and I'm afraid, sadly to say, that we will never ever leave.
RIP UWE STADIUM PROJECT....IT WAS NEVER EVER GOING TO HAPPEN!

If you are right then much of the trust developed by the new owners would be lost...no more cheering the family and Wael would have to think twice before mingling with the fans. A lot riding on what happens in the next couple of months. A bit of painting and cleaning the carpets will satisfy no one .

I don't think we will be waiting until August unless there are unforeseen complications. My gut feel is that there will be an announcement way before then (subject to legalities and no contractual issues). The fact they used a line in the press release that said something like "irrespective of a whether we will be moving to a new stadium or not" suggest that they have gone out of their way to detach the two which I wouldn't have thought they would do if they knew UWE wasn't happening.

It's uwe or bust. You'd think they'd have made sure it was viable before buying the club. Due diligence?

I see progress, investment, backing, training ground, Mem improvements, good season ticket prices, good Manager, togetherness in the squad, hope, you don't. Enjoy yourself.
