I regularly drive past there so can provide updates. As it is now a "managed motorway" you might find it difficult to park on the hard shoulder. 😉

Keen is positive to me, if they had said "not keen" I would have been more concerned.
I agree that it's not a particularly optimistic statement but I don't see what benefit UWE would have gained from making anything other than this statement, particularly as it's obvious that a deal has not been agreed.
The negotiations are going on behind closed doors and I don't think anyone should read too much into these statements.
Given the pace of negotiations, I suspect they spent a few months deciding if the doors behind which negotiations would take place should be open, closed or ajar. Maybe they can't decide on the colour of the doors, or alternatively if it's a quartered timber veneer design whether it contravenes equality legislation with regards to the six fingered lot who might frequent the place. Oh hang on a minute, it's a university so obviously not. 😉

We demand a live webcam feed....so that we can watch the grass grow! (As long as they take it down when training starts as we don't want any poaching!)

Not quite sure which universe I'm in. Rovers and the 82ers have hated each other since the sixties. I think its different now for the worse, when i was growing up lots supported one team but watched the other play, not now although football is more expensive i think its nastier now between red and blue. ...and probably part of the reason for the recent gentlemen's agreement between the clubs on transfer dealings. They could see how toxic the situation had become and that there was a very real danger that something serious could occur. As employers they have a duty of care towards their employees and there was a foreseeable risk that could have found them culpable as much as anyone who stepped over the line. Sad times.

Up and coming stars to mould and improve = DC policy Hasbeen quick fixes nobody wants = Fans policy I see where you are coming from, but the likes of Montano, Bodin & what's his name from FGR, were out of favour/had issues and were not obvious up and coming stars. Lines and Easter were playing at a higher level (well sort of) and have contributed. It's all a gamble because it's the future and no one knows how the players will respond when arriving at a super massive club like ours. However what DC does do is reduce the level of risk by undertaking background checks on the player's personality and lifestyle choices to make sure they have the right kind of mentality and work ethic to fit in with his approach to the game (wouldn't touch Frear who was often touted as having potential). It's not always going to work, and we have had a few disappointments under his stewardship, but more of them have worked out than not, and our position in the league table reflects that.

It's ironic that he appears to have weight issues having presented Celebrity Fit Club for three years. Maybe it all went downhill for him after they pulled the plug on Supermarket Sweep! 🛒

I remember going to the Paralympics at the OS in 2012 (couldn't get tickets for the main event, but glad I didn't as it was truly awe inspiring what some people overcome in order to compete) and was really impressed with the atmosphere and level of noise which I thought would be lost in such a large open stadium. I must admit I was initially sceptical about the UWE design, but if the angle of the roof is right it should reflect the sound back down towards the spectators provided there's not too much absorption by the soffit. I know acoustic design is a bit of a black art, and it obviously depends on the size and enthusiasm of the crowd, but there's no reason why it couldn't be an improvement on the current state of affairs.

You've cracked it! Dwane (noun) Refers a person that exhibits a profound sense of humor accompanied by amazing intelligence complemented by an outrageous sex appeal. A Dwane is the best person you have ever met or will ever meet. Plain and simple a Dwane is just better than you are. The party was boring until Dwane arrived. Dwane is one funny mofo fo sho and is extremely hot, I wish I could date a Dwane.

To lighten the mood, can we do the Dwane Dibbly thing from Red Dwarf again? It still makes me laugh, especially the thought of a colony of them.
On a more intellectual note, having fallen for the Google Translate ruse earlier in the thread, did anyone else look into the meaning of the name Dwane? Apparently in Gaelic it means "dark" or "black". Could it be a subtle play on words from our new owners of Arabic origin to link the new company with our early history, or am I overthinking this?

Anyway let's not allow this thread to go down the route it is currently headed. The point of the op remains valid and is a very good one. 6 of the starting 11 played for us in the conference and we more than matched the best side this league has to offer (home and away). Are they non-league players? Of course not. Every player who remains from the conference has been improved and moulded into league 1 standard players by our incredible manager and backroom staff. It is a fantastic time to be a gashead and championship football is looking like a real possibility within the next few years with the current setup. So may it continue. Thank you DC, you are the best thing to have happened to this football club in decades. Well done rambo, that is exactly the point. They played non league for us but have improved so much that they competed equallly with the best team outside the championship. You could spend 20 pages arguing if they are / aren't non league but they did play for us in the Conference. But thanks to DC they aren't any more. Well done all our coaching staff and management. Thank god we have a coaching staff who can actually improve players to the extent they have, must save thousands of pounds! UTG! Jamie Vardy is a Conference player,...or he soon will be! 😂

Ah thanks for that, I just hope Boro play their proper side? Home win banker for me come on the northern monkies! Fighting a relegation battle in the Prem, no way will they risk a full strength side in the FA Cup. Premier League teams don't give a toss about the competition anymore. They'll play Elsie Higginbottom the tea lady in goal and Archie Wigginbollocks the boot man up front. I disagree. I reckon Granville will get a run out instead of Archibald, Northrop and Seymour will come into midfield, with Arkwright between the sticks.

If we could have a section dedicated to bears, that would be cool. Bears? As in big hairy bears? What is wrong with you? Will it include bear wrestling Putin style? I've heard it's very manly. 😉

I'm still amazed that Abramovich is continuing to bankroll Chelski, as I can't believe he's made any real money from that enterprise. I would have thought he would be bored by now and want another yacht rather than stump up the cash for a stadium redevelopment. Perhaps he still gets a buzz from it that he can't get anywhere else and maybe, just maybe, the same is true for Wael. We will just have to hope that the rest of the AQ family feel the love too.

I still want to know how Dwane is pronounced. I'm guessing it's "duh-wah-nay", but SH has anglicised it for us.

One's a bank card reader. If you look closely you can just make out the last transaction: £300,000.
