I've heard from various fans that he was one of the best players in the National league last season I liked him. Had potential but like Hanlon suffered playing in a side with no striker and too slow a pace of play Wasn’t he meant to be the striker, along with Hanlan? Funny that both the strikers that season struggled because we had no striker! 😂 |

No such thing as an ‘entertaining/pulsating’ pre season game. Even coming away with a win against champ opposition is meh, nothing on the line but minutes in the legs for players. The fact that they were a bit cocksure and over promised on the delivery time (it would seem that way) when several people said this would happen due to planning delays isn’t so brilliant. They deemed it worth the risk. I don’t see how they were “cocksure”, in fact I hugely respect the slight risk they took in moving the club forward to increase revenue. It’s a forward thinking move and not one I see we should throw stones at either way, tbh. I for one hope they pull it off as it’ll be a huge improvement (albeit that is a little sad given we want a shiny new stadium not a new stand). |

My take on all of this is: regardless of the circumstances of the incident, and regardless of what happens on July 7th, I find it totally & utterly depressing that for the second preseason in a row, we’re sat here discussing the ins and outs of an upcoming assault court case for one of our (future, in this case) staff members. I wanna be spending my preseason thinking about what formation we’ll go with, what away games I wanna do, whether Evans is gonna have a better season etc. Not what the CCTV footage of our new striker is going to show. I’m just gobsmacked we’re back in this position as a fanbase. It’s actually the third preseason in a row! 🙉 |

I’m undecided on this one, if his court case is soon wouldn’t we have been better off keeping it quiet until that’s over with? Or maybe signing him pre court case is the only way we’ve managed to land a championship quality player? Rotherham have been sniffing around… |

The usual outrage without knowing a single detail of what actually happened in the incident that was admitted too. Standard. Was he trying to protect someone? Was it a case of being caught up in a melee and catching someone unintentionally? Possible some racial abuse was at hand that wasn’t taken too kindly? Or did he walk up to a stranger and smack them clean in the face in a vicious unprovoked attack? Absolutely no one here knows. Although I imagine WAQ does. What I find most interesting is that Rotherham were keeping an eye and remained keen (his former manager). Caldwell still was keen to reconsider it post court case… it sounds like all we’ve done is taken his word and gone early. It’s a bold move… it could backfire for sure. But I’m not a fan of assuming the press highlights are the facts. |

It will be interesting to see what comes out in the court case. Assaulting one women then a court case for assaulting another on the same day is quite an odd scenario. I don’t know the details and neither does anyone else seemingly. You have to think the club wouldn’t walk into something that was about to get ugly.
Also interesting how Caldwell said they may come back from Brown later in the summer after the case… doesn’t sound like someone who wrote him off entirely.

Really pleased about this. Another statement of intent. Surprised at the some of the salty comments on the Barnsley forum as I thought he was one of their best players, before and after the leg break.
Thomas and Wilson were both important players in promotion winning/chasing sides last season.
Most of them seem to agree. Unsurprisingly a little resentful as he cost them a lot of cash. |
