Disappointed to see Sweeney back in the line up, broadbent has done very well of late. I predict 1-1

Great comments regarding Harrison, good to see he's playing well, long may it continue!

DC states he is trying, to get the balance right, then says he is looking to sign a defensive midfielder and a left sided player, but no mention of a target man, forwards we have should score at least 50 goals between them for us to be competitive in the league this season, if we get that left sided player, he be expected to have the same style as Bodin, cutting in to the danger area, only one opinion that matters is DC, I appreciate that, but if we don't sign a strong strapping CF who has experience, can't see where the goals are going to come from(Except Bodin) for us to be competitive this season, this is my opinion And yet all the success we have had has been without a big target man type player? I see what you mean, target men have never really fit into our system that well with DC at the helm, but to go up a level in terms of performance we need something different in our artillery. It's all well and good passing the ball around the edge of the box but I can't help but feel that we need that big strong centre forward who takes two defenders with him. It's so effective against ourselves, Nile Ranger springs to mind, also there was a fella playing for FGR in the recent friendly in the 2nd half who always had two of our defenders trying to get the ball off him, creating space for his other team mates. It's all well and good having big defenders like we do but if we don't have someone who is going to cause a lot of trouble to the opposing centre backs then I can't see us taking it up a notch this year!

Conceded 9 against them last season in our 2 games so would just be happy with a clean sheet and possibly try nick a goal. Wouldn't be surprised to see Lockyer,Sweeney and Broadbent all start. Conceded 9 in two games.... before Sweeney I was thinking exactly this, he brings an arrogance to our defence and we looked so much more solid when he came in, he's the difference this season and it was vital we got him back. I love the idea of that back three!

Seems like a confident lad, reminds me of when Cureton joined from Norwich 👀

Depends how strong his views are. If his views are thay strong then I fully understand why he wouldn't sell non vegan products. How does the strength of his view make any difference? All down to how ignorant he is of accepting that other people have different views. How ironic.

BB mate you're either on the wind up or you really are talking tosh.... It's common practice for clubs to loan players to another club and pre agree a clause for how much it will cost the club to buy the player at the end of the loan. Happens all the time - just look at European and Premiership football - even in the lower leagues it happens.... Normally an up front loan fee is included though so you pay a fee to borrow the player..... Yes but think it through with regards to ryan sweeney,he was outstanding last season at 19yo in league one so he is already worth at least 500k! If he does well again this season you can double that,so what sort of fee do you think rovers and stoke have agreed on? And why would sweeney settle for league 1 after last season and why on earth would stoke virtually give him away after paying good money to sign him? He will be signing for a newly promoted team in the championship where the fans love him, the club will be having its new stadium built and he'll more likely be our record transfer fee. Be positive and realise that what is going on at our club atm is nothing like it ever has been. We are building for success and it will be coming, it already has been, get rid of your pessimism and just enjoy the fact something good is actually happening!

Would have thought Sweeney would have jumped at the chance to go on the tour rather than wait for them to return, so I'd take this as Chimp just edging his bets. Probably because Sweeney was involved in Stokes recent tour of Switzerland. It's probably made him more hungry to get in the Stoke first team, wherever he goes this season he'll be a force and motivated to do well! The lad has a very bright future in this game.

I'll take it one further, I don't like either, both sponsors are far too imposing. Probably part of the deal of being the sponsor. Hmm, shame really! I know I'm going to end up buying one when they're on sale though, I can never resist! Hopefully they'll be doing long sleeve shirts again!

Is anyone planning on going to Slimbridge for the Gloucester match? Looks like a tiny ground! Not sure I can be bothered to travel to Salisbury though for a friendly, but can't make any other days so want to go to one! You'll have a few Stroud gas there today, a tiny little ground and parking will most likely be a problem but there's beer food and the gas there so no reason not to go really

I saw his first half at Coventry, he looked pretty solid tbh, big, strong, good in the air and had a fair turn of pace! After he went off I thought that's when the game changed, he was highly thought of at Middlesborough as well. Just hope he gets a good preseason under his belt, he could be a big player for us next season ! It didn't help we then had to play with two LB's and one of those was the mainly useless Bob Harris! From memory Locks was all over the place again in the first half, he really struggled whenever Sweeney was missing last season. It certainly didn't, it was probably the most turgid game of last season, a waste of a great day out ! I think TL will be fine if he has someone similar next to him, it allows him to play to his best! Shame we won't be able to get him back for next year!

Incredible that Burn and Partington are injured ... How exactly ? They haven't played a handful of games for us between them. Burn has been a bit of a bizarre signing so far. I could hardly tell you anything about his ability/attributes. I saw his first half at Coventry, he looked pretty solid tbh, big, strong, good in the air and had a fair turn of pace! After he went off I thought that's when the game changed, he was highly thought of at Middlesborough as well.
