Matt Lund has turned down an offer from Rochdale and is now a free agent. We don't really need another Centre midfielder but in league 2 he would do a very good job. According to the Post we are still looking to sign another central midfielder. Lund would be a quality signing. Lund and McAleny sign for Salford (apologies if posted elsewhere). Might get the bus down to Broadmead to watch in the window of Radio Rentals or Rediffusion. Well, I used to do that back in the 1960s to see the football results on a Saturday. Was thinking along the same lines - nose pressed up against the rental shop window - those were the days! Really though I'll be on the sofa with a nice bottle or two of Spitfire (to shoot down those Fokkers Bombers.....) (Edit - strictly Fokkers were Dutch and the factories only taken over by the Germans after invasion. Really it should be Focke-Wulf, but that doesn't really work, although I could have said Fockers I suppose?) |

Fair play to Wales. Heroic play with ten men and they have qualified. Only saw the second half, but well played Wales. I thought the sending off harsh (can/will they appeal?), and not long before that there was a very poor challenge on Bale that was worthy of a yellow, but the "big" team get the benefit of unconscious bias again.... |

pretty sure we've always struggled against Sweden Think it was quite a comfy 2-0 in the last World Cup Hugh. Watching GvP just now, wouldn’t fancy our chances against either of them. I think even we, the mighty Gas, could score against this Portuguese defence (or they would score for us...) |

Does anyone know how to get the Helpline discount in the on-line shop? There’s a Helpline discount? There is supposed to be, I believe. I must admit I've never bothered to try to claim it when buying the odd thing in the past, but as I was considering getting quite a bit of stuff this time I thought I'd try to find out how to do it. Does anyone know? If not then it'll just be a bit more for the club..... |

I remember him being extremely lazy that day he scored those 2 fabulous goals at Wembley. If a Premier league striker had scored two goals as good as those in a FA Cup final or similar, then they would have been shown endlessly on TV |

Since my Dad died I've taken over his FA Cup final ritual, which was to cut the grass that afternoon. He didn't like Football!

I remember seeing Zamora and Ellington come on as subs, I think it was away to Wycombe, and thinking that we'd had a glimpse into what the future held for Rovers. Sadly Olly didn't agree. It was away at Wycombe. I was also there and my recollection is of two precocious talents. I think it was Ellington running through the Wycombe penalty area bouncing the ball on his shoulder that sticks with me. When Zamora was on loan at Brighton, Rovers Reserves were playing Brighton's at Worthing FC's ground. I went along and Zamora was there watching. I was able to get pretty close and say hello to him, but my main memory was the way the Brighton staff and players were all edging him on to join them. I remember writing to Holloway to inform him of this, but as you say Tilly, it seems Holloway wasn't too interested in keeping him. You could argue that the fee we got wasn't too bad for an unproven youngster, but..... |

Wouldn't you have after listening to him say right before the match that he wouldn't have signed a single one of them? He has criticised everyone and everything about our club and surprisingly it hasn't helped results. A few home truths for Wael and the board are fine - things clearly need to change - but JB does seem to have gone too far tonight and recently. Is he looking for a way out with a pay off, and not having to resign? |
