Personally I don't think we have as good a squad as has been made out. I also take what Taylor has said about it being a good squad with a pinch of salt?. It wouldn't surprise me to see quite a bit of movement in the next window. Personally think there's half a dozen players there that if we are to challenge aren't good enough for what we want. I think we do.
We're just missing some crucial components.
I think the majority of this overall squad, man for man is better than the one Holloway had, for example.
That Holloway squad for the first few years had Hayles, Roberts, Cureton plus a young Nathan Ellington.
Put any of those in this squad and we are winning this league quite easily imo.
When Cureton and Roberts were both sold, the squad sunk like a stone, which was pretty much the same team bar those two. Steve Foster, Andy Thomson, Trevor Challis; Robbie Pethick, Ronnie Mauge, Simon Bryant, Lewis Hogg, The Latvian, Mark Walters and Nathan Ellington etc just off the top of my head.
This side is mid table League 1 without goalscorers, a lot of that Holloway squad without it's strikers either out of form or sold went from top of League 1 to 2nd bottom of the entire Football League within 18 months.
I think this is actually the best overall squad since 1990, it just needs certain improvements in crucial positions and a manager who can get the best out of them.
Andy Tilson also left the same time as Roberts and Cureton which made a huge difference to our defence, think Pethick did as well didn’t he as we then had Marcus Bignot for the relegation season. Our defence was weak without Tilson leading Foster and Thomson from what I remember. But I still agree with your point, we’re a few key components away from having it right. Just hope Taylor is the man to do it

This kind of stuff should be kept within the team, it’s between the manager and the players Don't get so excited. This is a couple of seconds meant for our consumption, as well as the players. The recording stopped and they got down to the real business. Omg you’re right, how could I have had such a crazy rant about it 🤔😂😂

Did they not sack him before he was relegated? So he still started the process of the relegation?? Why are you getting so offended, you’re not his dad are you?? 👀 lol Another post without checking the facts. Monk was sacked at the beginning of Dec 2915 with the club in 15th position in the Premier league. They were relegated three years later in 2018. By the way, I am his dad, so what’s the problem there? I dont need to check the facts I asked a question to the know it all 😂 well according to people on here Taylor is getting the job so Monk can go fail at another championship club I guess 👀 lol

So Swansea got relegated, and he failed to get 3 championship clubs promoted. Promotion was the target and it wasn’t achieved so that would be failures? to us a 7th place championship finish seems amazing but that wasn’t good enough for those clubs 🤷🏻♂️ Like I said before check your facts, Monk did not get Swansea relegated and has not been relegated with any team he managed. He’s been given high profile jobs and failed them all by the look of his cv Suggest you look closer. The only club Monk failed at was Sheffield Wed, sacked when they were 2nd bottom of the Championship. At Swansea in his first season he saved them from relegation and the following season they finished 8th their highest ever position in the Premier league, beating Man Utd and Arsenal home and away in the same season, one of only three clubs to ever do that. He was manager of the month in that season as well.He was sacked when they were 15th in the Premier league. He resigned from Leeds after they finished 7th in the Championship after a poor end to the season where they had been in the playoffs until the final day. The Leeds owners were mystified as to why he resigned. At Birmingham he did very well and his spell at Middlesborough did not get them back to the Premier league as they wanted. Can hardly been described as a failure. So Swansea got relegated, and he failed to get 3 championship clubs promoted. Promotion was the target and it wasn’t achieved so that would be failures? to us a 7th place championship finish seems amazing but that wasn’t good enough for those clubs 🤷🏻♂️

If your having to ask that . You do not know much about football. I’m also asking that. Perhaps I don’t know anything about football. Can someone explain why Monk would be a good appointment? His stats on pure numbers are not brilliant and it’s also fairly telling that he hasn’t held onto a job for long anywhere he’s been. Genuinely interested in the case for him. He’s been given high profile jobs and failed them all by the look of his cv

Is anyone else getting fed up of hearing who it’s not gonna be lol Be interesting to know how he gets that information and why he only finds out who it won't be. 🤔 Only thing I can guess is he’s contacting the managers and straight up asking them

I’d feel more confident if we could score more than 1 goal Time for our non scoring strikers to step up. We’ve got 6 or so midfielders and 3 strikers that should all be scoring goals (while on the pitch of course) and the only player that seems to be scoring at an acceptable rate in line with expectation is Martin imo. So agree with your comment but throw the attacking midfielders in there as well

Who else remembers the "good old days" on the official BRFC website forum, when we all got excited on the appointment of Paul Buckle? He had just led Torquay to promotion and seemed like a perfect fit! Achieving success on a low budget...what could possibly go wrong? I believe that the toxicity around his tenure led to the deletion of that official forum. Counter that with the appointment of Gerry Francis. Sort of, meh. Never did much at Exeter. All a bit underwhelming really...how he proved us wrong. Point I'm making. Whoever we appoint, is a roll of the dice. Didn’t they lose the play off final?

If a player is giving his all , running his socks off to get in the right positions , getting stuck in etc but simply just not good enough then I can handle that but Collins is good enough and not doing any of those things. I agree with the OP needs to be dropped , I would have done it weeks ago if not months ago. I think you’ve summed it up for me here

Love how we post a video of our nice shooting practice this week, yet in the game we’ve had 10 shots and only 1 on target haha

So it would seem Mangan will more than likely be given the job if he gets a positive result this Saturday, if so I feel he definitely needs a DoF, if we lose, I wonder what the plan will be then and how much longer will we be waiting? If we lose then Mangan has a chance to show something massively important imo, the ability to pick the lads back up after a loss and get them motivated for a the next game. I don’t much want him to get the job but I also don’t believe his opportunity to earn it ends with a single defeat, especially against a good team with excellent home form
