I definitely can't see that happening. If Blackpool want to sign him and PH wants to leave, then we're doing them both a favour by releasing him when he's still under contract. If we let him go to them on a free then we've got rid of a player off the wage books that DC maybe doesn't really want, Blackpool get an under contract player for nothing, and Hartley could possibly get the same wages, a nice little signing on fee and the promise of more game time. Everybody wins!! DC must be desperate to get PH off the wage bill, as otherwise he's going to be an expensive bench warmer this season behind at least AN Other and Burns. You obviously know how much he is getting paid. Care to share?

It's a fire sale! Hartley won't be the last. There is no money and DC is having to sell his best players. This is further proof that the UWE deal is dead and DC will be off in a few weeks.
Hamer out.

In fairness to Hartley he had clowns for company in goal, he also only played the first half of the season which included the team acclimatising to league one. If DC has others lined up and knows Hartley will be well down the pecking order then fair enough + DC sees and knows and has a far better record than any of us! Begs the question why he signed him in the first place? He's been an odd ball signing, dominant in the opposition box but fairly useless in his own box, even Plymuff got promoted the season after he left, I'm surprised another Div 1 is prepared to sign him. They lost in the playoffs final so hardly struggled when he was there.

Can see why we signed him at the time, but can also see why we are letting him go. Didn't really make it at League 1 level and we can do better, especially if we have a bigger budget this season. Plus he's not young, so doubt he would be happy warning the bench. Better all round to move him on IMO.

Plus he was one of last summer's high profile recruits by DC.

Plus he was one of last summer's high profile recruits by DC. I can't say I agree with either of those things. Most players want to play at the highest level possible and he isn't getting any younger. It probably wouldn't take much of an incentive to convince most players to move from a League Two club to a League One club other than the fact they are playing a higher level of football. And even then, who knows what sort of wages he was on at muff. I also wouldn't have called him a high profile signing last Summer, he was just one of a number of signings. Even if you think he may be 'an expensive bench warmer' as you put it, I don't have a problem with that. But don't express your thoughts as facts when you actually have no idea what the truth is.

Who cares what wages he was on. I would imagine they were half decent and assuming the Blackpool deal goes through DC should have extra spends to improve the team.
I can't say I agree with all the negative comments about PH I think he did ok for us and the goals he scored balanced up any defensive frailties he had. I will wish him good luck if he does move on (except if he plays against us obviously).

I often stick up for Topper and agree with a lot of the things he says, just the way he puts his point across often leaves much to be desired.

It's a forum, not the Bristol Post, anything posted on here as the posters own views. In my view if he'd stayed Hartley would have been an expensive bench warmer at best, so DC will be over the moon to free up his wages.

DC reacted to the fact Rovers were getting lots of corners but nobody was scoring as the team were useless at making the most of corners on the whole. PH was signed as a standard centreback who could also be a threat in the opposition box. This turned out true ,Hartley was the fifth top scorer in the squad whilst only playing 25 games.Showing up our strikers for how very POOR they were in those areas. PH leaving means ,the club have realised they need to invest in a Sweeney standard centreback else last seasons defensive issues will reappear. That Rovers will also need a striker who can actually score when rovers have a corner.
Partington and J Clarke are versatile players there to cover fullback ,centreback and if needed midfield.
SH did mention there might be 4 loan players potentially. So it could be Sweeney returns on loan.

Sounds like no fee involved.
The kind of move a club would make when they want to make their squad ready to challenge at th top of the league instead of consolidating.
