Think that rumour started on their forum a few days ago, but like a lot of ours, might turn out to be rubbish. A lot of thier fans against it as well. They already have 2 big strikers, although one is Blissett lol. They want someone to run in behind etc.

Really against him going to Plymouth. Would love him back here. Same level, and we're arguably the better club, but we're defiantly the bigger.

Both similar in terms of crowd sizes (although Argyle averaged more in the league below). As things stand Argyle have a much better stadium than us and that is a big plus for them.

i bet James would score a hatful if lambert was up front with him Real rib tickler that one was. Maybe this post would be more appropriate in the joke section. T-bone, your form on calling good players and managers is appalling. You bring much positive things to this forum, but the thing you should bring to discussions on players potential should be silence.

The question is.....Is Rickie Lambert TODAY as good as say Rickie Lambert of 2007/08 ?
If the answer is NO then he will not score as many goals as did in league one back then. Which means he will not be a top six striker but a midtable striker perhaps.
IF Rickie is signed as well as two other promising strikers like say Godden then having him as a third striker coming off the bench would be fine.

Imo if we signed Lambo- and he's fit enough for 40 games we'd win the league.
He's a bloody brilliant player.
Too good for this league.

RL was an inexperienced player on the way up, now he's an experienced player on the way down, not sure it's easy to judge which is the better player? Plus RL was a good player in an, at best, average team now he's could be a good player in a good team with a good manager.

I only disagree with the inexperienced bit...he had played over 200 games at four clubs before joining Rovers.

He's barely played, let alone scored regularly since he left Southampton. He could well have been better when we left us than he is now.

His championship ratio last season was better than Taylor's. And he's not a snake.
Sign him up. 1 year deal, with an option based on 15 goals.

Plus, it's very arguable that we are weakest club- he's linked with.
It's a no brainier. Although, I doubt possible. Those doubting his ability- utterly crazy.

I'm 27, following rovers since before I can remember. And I remember from Holloway. There will be many with longer sentences than I. But there will be some with shorter.
Without a doubt, the best footballer I've seen wear the quarters. If he's possible, I want.

The second me and my Dad saw Lambert play we knew he was a special player. My Dad famously said he would play for England, and he did.
That type of class never goes. Even if he plays deep in midfield or is used selectively like Easter, Lambert's set pieces and headers are enough. He doesn't need to even run.
He is the most complete footballer I have seen in a Rovers shirt, he is a total gentleman and he did us a huge favour signing that deal. What a guy.
Take that away, even if was a total pr1q, he would be a huge coup for the club, for the youngsters too. I'd want him here for future coaching roles. He's one of our own.

Please, if at all possible, sign him up, he's a class player, his game was never built on pace anyway, he has so much to offer: quality on the ball, set pieces, penalties; role model, a real lift for the whole place: fellow players, fans, finances: gates, merchandise; impact on the opposition, they will seek to stop him and thus it will open up space for other players; would be a great show of intent. Still remember the buzz of the quality of Mark Walters in the famous quarters, it really lifted the belief in the crowd. As I said, please, if it's possible bring him back. Rickie, if you're thinking this over, please come home.

Do other teams forums have loads of threads about potential returning players or is it just a rovers thing?

I like your worship of Lambert but am suprised by most of this. Your Dad said he would play for England? He was a good player but Saints trimmed him by over a stone and he was still 2 years off of a call up. How can he be a complete footballer with zero pace, zero tackling ability, cannot beat a player? He would be a superb number 9 for us no doubt. Those who are doubting that are wide of the mark imo. His set pieces, hold up and first touch alone would create plenty of attacking threat and goals. He would also create a surge in interest which would put bums on seats and sell shirts.
