"could the Portugal tour be timed any worse"
YES. Mid September would be worse.

5 days and counting till the Gas Invasion of Albufeira, Portugal. Everything is packed including swim wear and Gas shirt. Average temperature will be 28 degrees. Who else is going on this trip to see our team play Hull city? Bring it on. UTG...

I said a month or two ago that we have too many pre-season fixtures ...12 or 13 games is ridiculous particularly given the squad size. I don't see why any player needs more than 3 or 4 games in pre-season after a relatively short break in the close season. I also agree that unless there are at least 3 or 4 first team signings this week then Portugal will add to problems. So fingers crossed for an active week in the transfer market. I agree. Football is not like American sports where they have 6/7 months between seasons. In football a season ends in May and they are back in training 6 or 7 weeks later in early July- so I've never got how a players can get that out of shape and need as much pre season training as they have in football. I get a focus on increase cardio and fitness work, and maybe play four or five pre-season games but 13 odds is a very high amount even tho players will only be playing 45mins in alot of them.

Had a quick look around and most L1 teams are playing at most 6, 7, 8, or 9 games this pre-season.

True, but you also hear countless players saying it's the best pre-season training they ever had, so much better than the last/old manager etc.
I would have thought a professional footballer would at least be running every day in the off season

You would hope so, Tom Parkes seemed to be overweight after the summer break, some are more self disciplined i suppose. Can't imagine Sinclair put on any weight. Anyway our fitness has been very good under DC.

I found it quite interesting to hear Marcus Stewart say in his post match interview that James Clarke played the full 90 mins against Weston because "we don't have the numbers".

Probably a better excuse than saying "I'm playing cr@p at present and just hope I find my form soon"

I really hope this is a wind up or we will be bottom Four very quickly and the season could take on a very different view. Hamer should walk and let someone with negotiating ability take his place ... Feels like the club is being slowly choked by his incompetence.

I was reading an article about Hamer and found this interesting: "Steve Hamer with many Swansea City supporters has little if any credibility. I think the final negative has to be the time he came to speak to The Midlands Avon & Gloucester Swans in Cheltenham in 1997. He was very convincing. The next day he got on a coach leaving the town full of Swansea people heading towards Sunderland to see the structure of the new stadium. A good friend of mine on the coach heard the following conversation "So Steve how did you get on with The MAGS" The reply went "I put up with three hours of bullshit and gave them three hours back."

Dam hell, if you believe no more players will be signed you need to give your head a wobble. Then to say Hamer needs to walk on no basis other than a rumour is laughable. This place is a joke sometimes.
