With the squad returning to training today I really feel that a week in Portugal is the last thing we should be doing with us requiring 10 or 11 signings. It will mean that DC is away when IMO he should be totally concentrating on getting personnel through the door unless there is a really big influx of players this week. The tour is an ideal preparation for gelling players together but for that you need the players signed. Maybe DC has it all in hand and many signings are near completion..i hope so but it doesn't at this stage seem very likely. Each day this week will hopefully be interesting. This really is the ramblingsof someone who has no idea what they are talking about

This is a classic example of a panicky summer thread on here. Why does everyone have so little patience?
If we had all met up down the pub today for the first time since the end of the season, what would we be saying?
That Sercombe looks a good signing County fans think we've got a gem in Bola We've finally got some long term goalkeepers DC has signed a new long term contract Open day next week with new shirts on sale
Happy days!
Then we might start talking about the need for a centre back and a striker, but in the context of what has already been achieved this summer, it doesn't seem such a big ask for it to happen.

This really is the ramblingsof someone who has no idea what they are talking about Really - so I guess you do!!! Perhaps you can enlighten us all. a week in Portugal is the last thing we should be doing - Most Lower league teams dont get Hot weather training, known to be excellent for fitness levels, crucial in such a physical league requiring 10 or 11 signings- DC said 10, 4 are done, 6 to go with 45 days to go (More than enough time) It will mean that DC is away when IMO he should be totally concentrating on getting personnel through the door - Mobile phones by definition are Phones you can take anywhere, you can make calls to anywhere too in the 21st century, believe me the 21st century is brilliant The tour is an ideal preparation for gelling players together - fair point but we do have 20 first team players already so they will gel Maybe DC has it all in hand and many signings are near completion..i hope so but it doesn't at this stage seem very likely - A) He has no source to know whether or not he has or hasn `t got it under control so its conjecture B) DC is well known to be an incredibly organized and 100% committed to doing things properly so to say its unlikely shows cluelessness Clueless conjecture isnt helpful at any point in time ever

I am hoping DC is sorting out deals in advance of flying out to Portugal; OP makes a valid point, it is not going to be easy for DC to close out deals while he his abroad. That leaves Hamer, not sure you would want to leave him in charge of closing out contracts without DC being alongside him.

That leaves Hamer, not sure you would want to leave him in charge of closing out contracts without DC being alongside him. Why not. What do you think Mr Hamer does when DC is here? Surely closing out the contract is the job of the Chairman not the manager. Pretty sure DC would answer the phone if Hamer phones him with any last minute issues.

My post was written on 3rd July and when the club return from Portugal we will be two weeks away from the big kick off against a team who stuffed us twice last season and will questionably have an even stronger side with signings made. STRONG,SECURE,STABLE I respect your views but in all honesty two goalkeepers, one midfielder and a full back and comments like "surprised by the fees and wages required" when we are after strikers hardly build confidence in our Managers transactions especially when he was saying the same thing in January! In truth there is no good time to be after quality strikers unless you are willing to pay out good money especially when you are after strikers who are not even transfer listed. As it stands now and likely to be the same next saturday IMO we will be two weeks from the kick off and a centre back, at least one winger and at least two strikers short of a team capable of getting a reasonable result in the first game. Just my opinion....

At the home game every shot they had seemed to end up in our net and the away game was game over before 3pm as we had the least mobile front 6 in Rovers' history.

Just my opinion.... DC does not choose the budget! Maybe he was hinting he needs a bit more to bring in the right players. Hinting to other clubs and players that they might have to take slightly less. It's well known you pay more earlier in the window. The longer it goes, the less a club and player is likely to take, if they really want to move. Panic when we are a few days from kicking off, not now.
