With the squad returning to training today I really feel that a week in Portugal is the last thing we should be doing with us requiring 10 or 11 signings. It will mean that DC is away when IMO he should be totally concentrating on getting personnel through the door unless there is a really big influx of players this week. The tour is an ideal preparation for gelling players together but for that you need the players signed. Maybe DC has it all in hand and many signings are near completion..i hope so but it doesn't at this stage seem very likely. Each day this week will hopefully be interesting. |

Surely there will be four or five signings before we leave for Portugal. It's a chance for the new players to bond and get to know their new team mates better.

Relax ... I am sure DC and MS have it all covered. Its a massive month for all concerned as either he will sign the quality that he said he needed budget for or to be fair he will show that he isn't the finished article just yet !! Personally think he will bring in some absolute top drawer players ( oh and Luke James sadly)

Actually its a concern worth noting seeing as that we leave, including me, for Portugal in 13 days time. So yes, the clock is ticking. I guess the "squad" will be on the same sunday evening flight as us supporters who have booked for the 4 days!

I said a month or two ago that we have too many pre-season fixtures ...12 or 13 games is ridiculous particularly given the squad size. I don't see why any player needs more than 3 or 4 games in pre-season after a relatively short break in the close season. I also agree that unless there are at least 3 or 4 first team signings this week then Portugal will add to problems. So fingers crossed for an active week in the transfer market.

Yet Ellis Harrison still had to wait until DC got back from his holiday before a contract could be agreed?

I would assume Steve Hamer would probably be sorting out deals anyway, unless he is spending a week on a beach in Portugal
People seem to panic about anything.
How many clubs go on a training camp. How do they possibly do deals and manage?

I think a lot of clubs have done their business a lot earlier this season, thus causing panic in the streets of North Bristol.
Not sure who does what in regards to transfer deals but I'm sure they know what they are doing.
Tbh I haven't seen many L1 signings that I am particularly envious of, but we do need bodies in the building sharpish or we may have another slow start to the season which could make all the difference.
