Why are Pompey 2nd favourites?

Why are Pompey 2nd favourites? Most likely because a lot of money has been put on them already, which is understandable.... You're most likely get the best odds on anything now other than a well supported side, it's just a question of which of the good odds minnows look worth a punt....

Pompey will have had more money put on them because they have a large fan base. Odds always reflect the money being put on not how good the team is. Strange but that's the way it appears to work. Better supported clubs will always be favourites whatever the quality of their teams.

Pompey have taken a long time to get back to league 1, I wouldn't surprise me if they went up again. Our odds are ridiculous, were more 12/1 surely? UTG

Same reason you just explained, a lot of our fans fancy our chances, and have already taken a punt

As for Pompey, they are well underpriced. Not saying they won't have a decent season but there is no value there at all. I actually think Fleetwood are probably the value call albeit they might not have the strength depth to win the league,Ican see them being in and around the playoffs again.

UTG 20/1 is a fair price but realistically are we THAT much stronger than last season right now if at all? The league is more competitive too. At the moment we will finish similar to last season I feel but these next few signings could push us on.

Do you think it is stronger, league 1 this year? I'm not sure it is. Lost Sheffield U, Bolton and Millwall, all big clubs capable of spending and attracting good players whilst even Coventry were a big club on paper albeit a bit of a fruitcake job atm. Yes Wigan and Blackburn have come down and Pompey up but overall I'd say it was pretty similar, as strong as last season. We'll soon find out but. Don't know how you find out tbh, more a kind of feel for it I think. UTG!

Fleetwood have strengthened in my eyes, add in to the mix the likes of Bury and Northampton seeming to spend a lot more money than last season. I feel like there are a lot more teams that have a chance of promotion this season than last. Oxford will be interesting, they are shoeter than us in the betting but have lost so many key players. Plus they have a coach with no experience of management in this country. Think they may underperform.

Just had a look...
Oxford at 20/1 to get relegated with William Hill is one hell of a price. I think they might just stay up but can see them struggling and 20/1 is way too big.
P.S we are only 6/1 with the same bookies. You do the maths!

Pretty sure we have a near exact replica of this thread prior to every new season.
