We could have struggled the last 3 seasons. But we didn't. Another doom and gloom thread sponsored by BB.

We'll get promoted and the sheeds'll get relegated. Almost happened last season, will definitely happen this season. UTG!

That would be absolutely fantastic but I really cant see it. If anything, I think City will do a lot better this season and we will do about the same as last. Not being pessimistic just an honest opinion. The way they just scraped it last year was typical them- incredibly annoying and at the same time, never quite getting what they deserve.

Although we all want some news on the new ground the situation at rovers when viewed in the medium/long term gives every reason to be optimistic. However with the partial breaking up of the conference team and several new recruits to bed in along with the obvious fact that recruitment hasnt gone totally to plan i think this could be a difficult season. The squad looks a bit unbalanced to me and i dont see enough goals in the team or enough clean sheets. Bottom half for me,what do others think? I know this could be viewed as a negative thread but i think were rebuilding and the team wont be ready to push on until 2018-19 in my opinion. f**k me, give it a rest!!! Yes. I'll wait until the end of September before I have a nervous breakdown and consider ending it all! UTG!

I think recruitment has gone wrong this year. We're a little stronger than last season imo, but not much.
DC stated that he was looking to get 10 or 11 in, that he knew the positions he was recruiting for, and he had 3 prioritised targets for each position.
I know there is still time, but I reckon only Sercombe, Nichols and the goalies are on that list of 30+ players.

If we went the whole season with this squad yes we would struggle but we will no doubt sign a few before the window and a few in the new year. DC had done well every season so until that changes i'm happy to assume he knows what he is doing.

Gonna win the league at a canter , unbeaten in the league 2017/18 season , the new invincibles , you heard it here first! That's more like it I just wish you'd got in there first with a "Going to win the league at a canter" thread. Is there any way to hijack a thread and change the name of the title ?

I was watered up last night in here but reading back a post I wrote about DC being very similar to Fergy I've got to say I still feel like that today in the cold light of day. He builds a foundation which gets success then just changes a little bit here and there each season to keep things fresh and keep the hunger there. I trust him to do the same this summer and we'll push on again.

I really do hope you optimistic lot are right! Otherwise you've got a long way to fall! Personally I'm desperate for a top notch striker but I suppose 91 other football league teams are too! I just don't see where the consistent goals are coming from apart from Bodin. Really need a couple of wide men and of course mr 23 page thread at the back-🙈 ffs!

Well i really hope all the optimists are right and we do well. I feel there are others that feel a bit like i do but are afraid to say to be honest. All im really saying is that this season could turn out to be a transition season while the team is being rebuilt.

I'll have a good idea towards Christmas. I know the transfer window is still open, but I really am gutted we have only signed one striker before the opening game (obvs still a few days to go). But I understand how DC does his business and it won't be through lack of trying I guess

I don't get where you getting the transition bit from as this is likely to be Saturday's starting 11 New goalie Leads/JC/Parts Locks Sweeney/Burn/Broadbent Brown Bodin Sercombe Clark/Lines Sincs/Moore Gaffers/Ellis Nichols What's transitional about that line up bar the goalie most likely just a couple of changes to the outfield players, whereus probably a team like Bury have half a dozen new players to "gel" we've just got an handful. Still think SH went OTT as if he hadn't given that interview we'd probably by all be happy with the new goalies, Sercombe & Nicholls plus potentially Sweeney returning.

'Otherwise you've got a long way to fall'? Well I suppose if we're all as emotionally fragile as you seem to think we are, but personally I will be able to cope with life if I'm wrong on this, but thanks for the concern.
