Nothing like a good feel factor, to get the season rolling👍 Really hope they get some players in soon. The clubs fans need a pick me up. I'm personally not that gutted, I'd rather they update the Mem. The best location in Bristol👏. See you all at charlton. UTG knock down the dribuild build a stand like the holt end,we can call it the holtby end then turn the pitch stick the away fans in the west side, extend the blackthorn end and put a stand along south stand Job done ✅ And Horfield Rose will love you for it

Brave call and the right one if the terms didn't suit us ... well done AQ family. They will deliver for us I'm confident of that.
My biggest frustration is Hamer lying to us .... that's twice now ! The famous landing lights and more recently fantastic investment in exciting players. The bloke has no credibility in my eyes now.

I like going to the mem. I hope they redevelop it and make it a better stadium. I suspect with a few million on some new stands they could get capacity up to 15 or 16000 and that would be quite adequate for the next few years. I like it, a suburban ground that the away fans will really enjoy coming to as well. Evolution not revolution is probably just what is required!

I've been supporting the gas for 50 years now, through the fire at Eastville, the dump at Bath, the poor conditions at the Mem I just hope that any redevelopment of the Mem or new stadium will have a walking frame park because if I've got to wait another 10 years I shall probably need one.

Don't fully understand why people think they have made any investment other than time in the club, all the money spent is set against the mem by way of a charge, its a debt for the club not a family investment. But they own the club. That's major asset is the stadium. If they were to try and sell the club that loan needs repaying or the price they sell the club for would take into account that loan. There is no separation between the financing and Al Qadi investment. If they have a loan against the stadium they have devalued their major asset. The only worry is if they went bankcrupt and declared they could not repay the loan- which seems very unlikely. I don't understand why people are so wound up by this loan. To me it suggests they are in for the long term.

I've got to disagree with you Harvey. 18 months to not negotiate a deal. That doesn't deserve a 'well done' as it smacks of incompetence.

Thanks Hugo, it wasn't meant as I told you so. It was just a gut feeling. The thing is the more you build something up then the more let down people are going to feel. I criticised Hamer about a month ago for leading us along and got jumped on so I felt like an "I told you so" bump myself to be honest but it's something of a pyrrhic victory. Yes. You are correct. Because rovers havent signed the UWE deal that you have no idea whether it would have been good or bad for the club. Hamer gets flack for potentially not giving away: naming rights, car parking, paying over the odds at the land. Why we don't just blindly do things and hope for the best is beyond me. They wanted to do a deal. They couldn't. It's over. Everyone's a liar...

I'm only just taking all this in so I'm not going to comment too much at the moment. Gutted, disappointed & letdown is what I'm feeling. I'm beginning to think that I will never see Rovers in a decent stadium in my lifetime, however I will still be there supporting the boys on the pitch league 1 , 2 or even the conference I will still be there! UTG!

I get that Nobby ... maybe it might have been easier to accept a less than advantageous deal to get a stadium moving. So brave to walk away ...but you are right though it didn't need to take 18 months to make the call.

Gutted, our current spending in the short-term may have been sustainable - DC 5 yrs, 15 U21 players, all the back-room staff etc - if the Stadium had come to fruition. Searching for a new site or redeveloping the Mem, will take 5 yrs or more, which leaves our current spending, now, at unsustainable levels. BRFC cannot afford to be operating at a loss of £2M+ each year for 5 years or more, I am truely worried.

Could walking away from the deal be a negotiation tactic, worked for me when I bought my car, couldnt settle on a deal, the garage wanted more than I was willing to play, so I walked and the salesman called me back with a better deal.
I believe the supporting infrastructure around the Mem could never support a larger crowd than the current full house crowd.

Summary - The deal was sh1t, we walked away.
Can't see how Hamer is getting stick for telling lies, it's business sense to say what he did.
