And the all important Feasibility Study came back positive, apparently. Presumably the FS would have been based on the agreements reached at that time - around 12 months after the takeover. Has one party moved the goalposts so far since then that a deal can't now be made? Something just doesn't add up. “A new stadium has to be built. We cannot be sustainable if we stay at the Memorial,” Qadi says. “But we inherited this situation and we did find some issues which we had to address, and it takes time because UWE are a public institution; it’s not a private company where the CEO can say: ‘Let’s get rid of this condition.’ We hired Ernst & Young, they’re doing the feasibility study and they should be done very soon, so it’s a gradual process. But if we want to succeed, a new stadium has to happen.” June 1st... 'Today Hamer has spoken out in an interview with the club confirming that discussions are still very much in progress.' He assured fans that there was nothing to suggest that the stadium won’t happen. He said: “I have been very honest about that we are still talking and negotiations are taking place as we speak now. “So until one side or the other says we can’t do it or we don’t want to do it, we keep going on and we keep trying to achieve it." Today... Professor West said: “It is disappointing and very surprising. We felt we had made fantastic progress. We are disappointed that we haven’t been able to give Bristol Rovers and the local community a high quality stadium.” The Vice Chancellor claims he has had no contact from Dwane Sports despite sending emails. There are no meetings between the club and the university currently in the diary. Professor West said: “We are working off the assumption that there has been a pull out by Dwane Sports who have announced that they are closing discussions." If that's the case, then the fans deserve answers. That's not how you treat a partner, an important local business.

I'm exactly in the same position as you - A fan who wants the best for their club & no literally nothing about the situation. Stop being a b*tch - it's time for things like these to stop creating "disputes" between fans, when really we only know what everyone else knows.

I haven't heard this statement from UWE and if true and I have no reason to doubt it - shows a complete lack of professionalism by our leaders, announcing what their intentions are publicly rather than informing the other party formally in writing beforehand that they no longer wish to continue with the negotiations. Frankly disgraceful. I'm not sure I can trust this lot anymore.

I think a few people are being naive on here thinking this is a master stroke or there's a developed plan B. For example If we are going to redevlop the Mem where will the money come from? I think Wael is a genuinely decent chap but he is clearly not the decision maker and at the end of the day they have no emotional attachment to Rovers. I am genuinely worried where we are going.

I too want an explication but I'm willing to wait for one before deciding who to believe, but without both sides yet I will always be more inclined to my club.

www.gazetteseries.co.uk/news/15451191._Door_still_open__for_Bristol_Rovers_to_move_to_new_stadium_on_UWE_campus__says_vice_chancellor/?ref=rss'Door still open' for Bristol Rovers to move to new stadium on UWE campus, says vice-chancellor PLANS for Bristol Rovers to move to a new stadium at UWE’s Frenchay Campus could still be salvaged, says the university’s vice-chancellor. Dwane Sports, who own the club, announced last night that they would no longer be planning to move to a new 21,700-seater stadium, abandoning more than six years-worth of planning after they were “unable to agree acceptable terms” with the university. They added that they would begin looking elsewhere for a new permanent home. Plans had been in the works for more than six years, with the club looking to relocate to the "UWE Stadium" on the Frenchay Campus from the Memorial Stadium, with the construction of the stadium, and a 1,270-space car park for the university. A statement issued by the company on the football club’s website last night said: "Dwane Sports is disappointed to announce that its discussions with UWE regarding a potential stadium development for the Club have been brought to a close as the parties were unable to agree acceptable terms. "We will now immediately turn our attention to exploring all other opportunities for a new stadium or for a substantive redevelopment of the Memorial Stadium, whilst at the same time continuing to develop the new Colony training ground. "We would like to thank the Club's supporters for your continuing patience as we continue to work on this very important project." But in a statement released this morning by vice-chancellor Steve West, he said that the university “has not given up on this hugely important project” and that “the door remains open for a deal to be struck”. The statement said: “UWE Bristol has not given up on this hugely important project. We have been and remain committed to delivering a new stadium and were disappointed to hear from Dwane Sports that they wish to bring negotiations over the proposed stadium at UWE Bristol to a close. “We have always wanted the stadium project as part of our vision for the University and wider Bristol community masterplan for the Frenchay Campus. We still believe it would bring great benefits to the university, local community and the regional economy. “We have worked diligently and patiently with the new owners of the club and although we have been disappointed by the slow pace of negotiations, we are still willing and open to continue negotiations. “This has been an initiative the university has been working on for over eight years and we still believe is deliverable. Planning consent does not expire until January 2018 and the door remains open for a deal to be struck and the University will continue to work on this project." So, the question is...Are Dwayne Sports playing hardball? They know UWE want it, DS want it, but no agreement, so by walking away it may force UWE's hand to come back with a more realistic agreement?

How can DS agree a deal then walk away because they then want a better deal?

Have they agreed a deal?
Higgs did, but did DS?
