and it's the Hope that is killing us. Speak for yourself. It's the lifestyle that's killing me. Then put the flask down!

Speak for yourself. It's the lifestyle that's killing me. Well stop going to those Barrymore Pool Parties then ! Brings a new meaning to "there's a floater in the pool"

...and its taken all this time to come to that conclusion? I would have thought the UWE was Higgs main selling point, why else take over this club? Agreed. They've had 18 months to negotiate this, so let's drop this 'Higgs bashing' nonsense. If it was that bad they should have walked away in a matter of weeks, not eighteen months later! Maybe UWE was just a tiny part of the appeal of buying the Club? Maybe Wael just wanted a club to enjoy, just like us?

I respect your view, but I think you're clinging to hope. My opinion is that the rumours of the AQs trying to sell the club as they - they being Hani - want out, have some truth. I hadn't heard that particular rumour, do you have a link or anything? All yours: gaschat.co.uk/thread/9951/rovers-sold-off-on-quiet

Some PR needed here to alleviate the speculation.
But we have been here before I think.

People I have spoken to for a long time now have kept telling me 'It's the kings clothes' syndrome - I have argued differently each time.
But today I find myself agreeing and muttering 'Smoke and mirrors'
Ref: Shambles - I think yesterday evenings statement and todays silence a total PR disaster and worthy of the shambles label.
The bills not paid since March and solicitor letters - the no money via Hani rumour makes me fear the worse, and truly - truly hope for better more positive news .. Soon!!

Maybe I'm being harsh in my criticism, but the lack of communication bothered me for a long while, and that half hearted statement last night was the cherry on the cake. Yes it's one project, but it's THE single biggest and critical project to the future of our club. It's not just another replica shirt order balls up. I appreciate, though, that most of our fan base seem to be a lot more understanding and forgiving than myself, so i'm not going to post on the subject again until more information comes to light..if it ever does.

I've been supportive of our owners in the past. Even been criticised for it on here (and then quoted as a "today's belter" on otib. I realise now they are charlatans. They have not put a penny into the club. All the spending - paying off MSP, players, contracts, new curtains, land at Almondsbury - is paid for by BORROWING AGAINST THE MEM! I wouldn't even be surprised to find out they aquired the club by promising to pay the debts, including money owed to Nick Higgs. He'd have probably been happy just to get his money back (which by accounts on here he hasn't got yet). I no longer buy into this "In Wael we trust", and I don't believe they have any intention of redeveloping the mem, let alone financing a new stadium. It seems very likely that the Al-Qadis have no money. At least none they are prepared to invest. This whole ownership has been about the family giving their youngest a toy to play with. This is the reality I now accept. I have to agree with you on this. From what I've seen its looking more like empty promises we were sold the dream of a new stadium and like guliable fools we lapped it up its no wonder one turd take the water and have a field day. My only concearn now is we don't continue hemorrhaging money left right and centre and end up going the way of Orient or Darlington due to the boards lack of money now we've borrowed against the Mem. I have no faith in the board anymore after reading the UWE statement and the lack of a full statement from the club (thought it would be a top priorty to release a full statement first thing). Actions Speak louder than words

The club have handled it all terribly in my opinion:
Lack of club-fan communication. Not telling UWE on their decision.
The fact is this has gone on for too long - 11 years! 11 years!!

What I will say, and this is a fact - after keeping us in the dark for months, then rushing a short 3 paragraph statement out at 11pm when under immense pressure - is not behaviour deserving of my respect. Agree 100% very poor in my opinion they would of been better off releasing a full statement and press conference in the morning totally lost my respect as well.

People may have mocked my DC thread but I dont think im far from the truth he already said to one fan that state of the MEM hampered his signings. I still have faith in DC but think we struggle to keep hold of him think the board know that as well hence why a 5 year contract was offered could all backfire if he decides to resign.

Fair enough chap. It's been an awful 15 hours or so with rumours, speculation and to be honest, some really awful comments about the owners. Best to just keep your head down and just enjoy the matchday.

No doubt your comments are 'spur of the moment' in disappointment at the news? So a couple of points - all of the money spent has been out of Al- Quadi pockets - the charge on the Mem makes no difference to that (and in my view was a necessary strategic move) - in effect, they have loaned money to themselves Most of the money you think is owed to Mr Higgs has been paid as is with the other directors - except for an amount held back for 'eventualities' which is not unusual for a purchase of this magnitude Your faith may well be renewed in time - wait for announcements Wrong none of the ex directors have had their loans repaid suggest you read the clubs accounts
