Second question I have...
A very clear distinction was made between "the club" and Dwane Sports. He also went on to say how "the club" would not have owned the ground at UWE and would be tenants.
Assuming Dwane Sports will finance and therefore own any re-generated (interesting choice of words there) Mem - how does that make "the club" not tenants?

I have not bothered to read the whole thread so forgive me if I am going over old ground. I support Bristol Rovers, it's never been an 'easy, ride, it's kind of like playing golf against pro,s when you don't even have a handicap. I would not have it any other way . Whilst I am a little disheartened that we have lost out on a great new stadium, I am so much happier than I was 3 years ago. Redevelopment of the mem; wonderful. We have a stadium that we can redevelop and an owner that wants to do so. A redeveloped stadium is not worse than a shiny new one, it's just different. I wonder how many Man U, Chelsea, Celtic, Rangers, fans are baying for a move? When city could not develop Ashton Vale what did they do? I have no intention of setting foot there but all my City mates love it. Wael and his family have sunk their cash, effort and expertise into our club. They have tried to get UWE off the ground but been thwarted by the other party. In the meantime they have negotiated, bought and developed the Coloney. These are not signs of a man giving up, they are true commitments to building our club. We are Bristol Rovers, it's always been uphill, but the slope has been getting less steep recently. Surely we can embrace the good, forgive the man for not being able to deliver what we had been promised by people long gone, and get on supporting our fantastic, evolving, promising, exciting club. Whilst we are doing this we should be thanking our lucky stars we are not Hereford, Stockport or Darlington fans. I am with you brother 100% "We all made a promise" and I intend to see it through just like those before me.

I think you have stated what a lot of gasheads feel and i hope Wael ignores the other idiots on here with their disrespectful comments

Great interview by Wael. Makes a lot of the people on here who are just mouthing off incoherently coz they don't have the first clue about anything look like they're just mouthing off incoherently coz they don't have the first clue about anything.

The grass is looking the best I've seen it for years! "They have tried to get UWE off the ground but been thwarted by the other party" I'd love to hear what they have to say, and whether they now plough ahead with developing their own stadium. As far as an owner wanting to develop the Mem wasn't that also the case with Dunford & Higgs, the problem is ,as always at Rovers, owners can never see it though to conclusion and unless Wael shows some proof he is prepared to invest big money in the club i.e. a proper marquee signing this summer for starters and Bodin tied down to a long term contract, then I'll remain sceptical.

It sounds like we would not have owned the stadium had we gone ahead with UWE if this is the case then fair enough--But why did it take 18 months to realise this very strange ? I think we need a DC intervention now just to reassure us all but I fear his patience is starting to wear thin just when we thought the club were on the up!!😡😡 Swansea don't own their own stadium having sold the Vetch but they seem to be doing OK? Anyway with a 125 year lease I doubt many of us would have to worry about what happens when it eventually ended!!

Yeah but Trash is supported by the GREEN PARTY who campaigned heavily against all 3 developments around Gloucester Road. The GREENS in their materials and website supported Horfield Rose : Trash and the Howzat campaign ( against Gloucestershire cricket ). As far as I am concerned they are largely the same 'crew' hiding under different protest groups. I would be amazed if Trash and the Greens suddenly started supporting a modern revamped Memorial ground. They talk about supporting and maintaining a valuable local facility. But what have they actually done in the last 20 years ? Have they set up a body to attract funding or grants to support the Memorial ground ? Will they bless an increased capacity ? Will they be celebrating we are now staying and even expanding ? Sadly : there aim is to protest and undermine any sporting progress. The Greens got absolutely smashed in the last local elections. Even beaten by the Tory candidate who didn't even bother campaigning. Also, in the locals, the Green candidate for Ashley who was vocally against Sainsbury's lost her seat on the council, while the Green candidate who didn't say much at all kept hers.

The UWE have no money to "plough" ahead with the Stadium The UWE will have to apply for Planning to Build a Stadium We have our 3 Marguee signings or are you expecting somebody from the premier to come and play at the sh** stadium called the Mem ? Agree about Bodin, i fully expect a £1m offer before the end of the month which we will accept to help pay our ongoing loss

I find it interesting that in both Hamer and Wael's interviews they talk a few times about needing to upgrade the stadium 'for the fans', but surely it would be primarily be to allow the club to progress, increase revenue etc?

I thought it was a decent interview. Wael made it perfectly clear the "commercials" were not right and accused UWE of backtracking on previously agreed points. It's disappointing, but if he is right (and why not trust him?) then its a good decision. Some of the comments on this thread are silly, at best, and lazy. Many coming from fans who expect others to pay for their entertainment. Deja Vu indeed. If the Mem pans out as a stadium, the issue is traffic and access. Funny how a Section 106 sways a Council and might be cheaper than a new build UWE (Stadium and the 106) Just a thought.

Yeah I get that - was just thinking about it more commercially I guess in terms of revenue outside of a matchday, sponsorship etc.
