I do feeel like we were fed a load of BS when we were told the drainage and re-surfacing had no bearing on us moving. They've been lying and leading the fans on for many months. You'd have to be naive in the extreme to believe the deal died because of a recent short deadline given to UWE. Possibly the most irritating thing is the blasé way this has been handled; a bit more empathy and explanation and it would've perhaps been an easier pill to swallow.

I am not architect. but could a new ground be built with the pitch much lower allowing for a bigger capacity stadium and it not have such an effect on the skyline.. No idea, but I think someone mentioned this or underground parking, but drainage issues were quoted I think. Nevertheless, the infrastructure around the stadium is rubbish & don't know how much that will cost. I hate the idea of redevelopment of the Mem & don't think it's viable - but Wael has decided so we need to see what plans he has. Whatever they are, as aghast suggests, son of Trash, may soon be raising its ugly head. No. Trash wanted it to remain as a sports stadium. It was Horfield Rose that didn't want it enlarged.

The past week has been miserable. it's almost like we have gone back 5+ years in time. Planning permission for the Mem site contested, trash kicking off...can only see more for ballache along the way. Gutted we aren't moving.

Yeah but Trash is supported by the GREEN PARTY who campaigned heavily against all 3 developments around Gloucester Road. The GREENS in their materials and website supported Horfield Rose : Trash and the Howzat campaign ( against Gloucestershire cricket ). As far as I am concerned they are largely the same 'crew' hiding under different protest groups. I would be amazed if Trash and the Greens suddenly started supporting a modern revamped Memorial ground.
They talk about supporting and maintaining a valuable local facility. But what have they actually done in the last 20 years ? Have they set up a body to attract funding or grants to support the Memorial ground ? Will they bless an increased capacity ? Will they be celebrating we are now staying and even expanding ? Sadly : there aim is to protest and undermine any sporting progress.

In fairness a good start would be to make a statement saying roughly how much is going to be spent on this grand plan - If we were told a £10M or £30M redevelopment for example we might get an idea of the scale, of course a £2M pound south stand is the best we can hope for and a £1M of that would have to come from grants. Or I guess we could all have a whip round like we have for the odd roof or two in the past.

This has to be mind games with UWE, and they've gone too far because redeveloping the Mem is laughable.
Would be cheaper, better and bring more returns to pay through the teeth for UWE.
Unless we're going to knock all the stands down and put up super tents.

Difficult to see how a redevelopment of the Mem could generate a profit to allow the club to grow.
I dont want the Mem to be redeveloped, the infrastructure around it could not support crowds of anything over what our full house is at present.

The idea that this is some grand scheme to twist UWE arms is crazy. It is dead. Get used to it.

Again redeveloping the mem is only about building a cheap small stand or two to keep us happy, not a full scale rebuild I am sure, if it is Wael should be a lot clearer about the scale of his plans and explain how it is to be funded.

Just what we need .. the next three years of Gloucester Road protest groups, radicals, lesbians, do gooders, and total pain in the arses.. whining about lighting, car parking, noise and anything else that might earn them attention and headlines. The carousel is being spun yet again .... buckle up everybody and grab a sick bag. What have lesbians got to do with anything you plank? well last time we submitted plans to redevelop the mem they protested against a grass in favour of carpet instead.

I still want to believe in wael and the plans, but where is the interview, they've obviously recorded it, why release 50 seconds of it?
I'm a paid up ifollower, but we seem to be paying more for less since it changed over. Not exactly good PR all round!

I look at the old mem redevelopment vision and the whole thing looks hideous almost in the neighbouring houses back gardens
