The main man DC is still here, and Billy Bodin our top striker is here until at least January, my glass is half full, and we have the loan market or free agents if required.
we have made no panic signings, and wasted money, as targets were not signed for whatever reason.
we can make top six let's stick together and move onwards and upwards!

Positive post, really think the gloom boys should take a leaf from your book👍. I strongly believe that we can compete with most sides in this division. Keeping Bodin is a massive statement. UTG

Yes, exactly. Four years ago this week, Rovers lost at Braintree, the lowest point in my time watching Rovers. If some one had said to me that day, 'In less than four years from now, Rovers will be promoted twice, have their best finish for 17 years, be considered as a team pushing for the top end of league 1, not need to sell good players and have good cover for most positions' I clearly would not have believed it. It is one purpose of forums like this that fans demand more but all this talk of 'disappointment' is a bit daft.

Surely it was 3 years ago?
Other than that I fully agree. We are on an upward trajectory. After our now traditional slow start to the season, I reckon if we were to now play Charlton and Peterborough we would give a much better account of ourselves.

UTG The massive statement will be if we get Bodin to sign an extended contract without a bloody stupid sell on clause. Other than that he is just fulfilling his contract.

But if Bodin says he will sign an extended deal but only if there was a realease clause in it, what would we do? If it meant that or losing him for nothing, I would agree to the deal, but put it in the contract not c**y!!!! Otherwise he can pre sign for anyone else from January and we would get nothing.

Just thinking about what I would do if I were Bodin. I think my negotiating position would still be good at the end of this season even if I hadn't had a great one so I would still be assured that Rovers would want to re-sign me. At the same time I might want to make it easy for a club to come in for me (I.e. on a free). I think my hand would be stronger not signing before the end of the season so any deal before that would have to be very sweet for me. No, that's settled it. I'm not going to sign for Rovers before the end of this season.

I'm not going to sign for Rovers before the end of this season. If I were Bodin from a half-loyal, half-selfish point of view, I would say: -I am the best player at this club so make me the highest paid -I want a contract until 2020, that way if I get a repeat of my previous injury, I'm still being paid a good wage for a couple of years -I want a release clause of £1mil. That means the club get decent money for me, but is also probably half of what my realistic value would be if I have another good season and someone will be willing to pay it. It also means the club can't reject any stupid amount of money if I want to move on. In this scenario, everyone wins. Some of the fans may not be happy if we only get £1mil for BB after he scores 20 goals this season. But at the end of the day, it means we've had a 20 goal a season winger all year and then sold him for £1mil (which is still a decent amount at this level) at the end of it rather than losing him for nothing.

While he did say sell-on clauses I'm sure he must have meant 'release clauses'. Like you suggest, why would we be happy with no sell on clauses? I've noticed in his interviews he does occasionally middle up some words and phrases and I think this is one of those occasions unless the reporter got it wrong.
