Somebody, please tell me anything that this young lad did wrong in the 30 mins he was on the pitch - I thought he was great and sent me home smiling and wanting to see more Of course, but there are those who aren't gonna miss a chance to carp.

What a game that turned out to be yesterday. At half time I was thinking it was pretty tame, no real incidents and both teams playing respectfully, might end up as a draw. I actually thought the crowd was very quiet too.
We certainly weren't at our best and I was hoping DC would work a little magic at half time so the lads would come out fighting.
First 15 mins of second half we we're lack lustre and looked a little weary and tired. Then whoosh! Ref red cards Slocombe and it's if he lit the blue touch paper and the whole place comes to life, crowd mental, team woke up and started playing for their lives.
I came away from the stadium with a massive smile on my face and a spring in my step thinking you certainly get your moneys worth of entertainment from rovers! Young Andre was superb and really rose to the occasion, he looked sharp and up for it. What a way to make your debut and instantly become a fans favourite. Hopefully Slocombe will only have a 1 match ban but I think Andre has earned the chance to go in goal against Oldham anyway, well to be honest DC probably wont have any other option but I for one am looking forward to seeing him in action again. Well done Andre and congrats to DC and the team for a thrilling 40 mins of football and securing a really important win against the odds!
UTG!

Surely two keepers out for any reason must mean you can get in an emergency loan. At the worst Mildy can surely sign as an unattached player or surely there is more unattached experienced goalkeepers o9ut there. Perhaps we can get Lumley back as an emergency loan!!

Would love to have Lumley back, who wouldn't, but if it's just a one match ban for Slocombe then it's hardly worth it. For DC to have Andre on the bench he must think he a good enough to play if needed. He's needed now and he showed enough skill and mental strength yesterday to be trusted as caretaker for Slocombe for just the one game IMO. Who knows we may have found we have our very own Lumley in he making by accident, wouldn't that be something!

The lad did remarkably well all things considered but he isn't ready to start a L1 game in my opinion.
Not saying he couldn't turn out to be a decent keeper in a few years but you can tell he still has an awful lot to learn. Which is what you'd expect.
He will have gained a lot from the 30 minutes yesterday but starting him against an Oldham side who have scored 5 goals in their last 2 games is not a good idea.
They said on Radio Bristol Slocombe will get a 3 match ban as the ref said he sent him off for violent conduct. If that's the case then we need to utilise the emergency loan market and bring someone in for a month. As stevek192 said above, Lumley would be perfect. We'd surely have to do this anyway or we'd have to play without a sub keeper for the next 3 games even if Andre started?
The difference between Andre and Lumley is massive in my opinion. Lumley semed much older than his 22 years. He looked calm, confident and assured. Andre looks young by comparison and still very naive. Maybe in 2 or 3 years time he could turn out to be our next Lumley but not yet.

But we're likely to only need him for one game against Oldham. So we should just ride with it. I will be very surprised if i is a 3 match ban.

Radio Bristol definitely said it had been reported as violent conduct and he'd get a 3 match ban.
Don't see how that was violent conduct personally but that's what they said.

One thing we can all be sure of is he certainly won the crowd over, I loved the bit after their striker retrieved the ball to get the game going quicker just to pee him off he moved it to the other side eating some more time what a legend !!

Fair play to the young man, thoroughly deserves all the plaudits he is receiving. Came on and had to face a direct free kick on the eighteen yard line. His debut could have been so different if that went in. From then on it was great to see him grow in confidence and it was a very good save he made from the deflection, not only saving it but catching the ball cleanly. Waiting to see the highlights as regards the sending off but from my position in the WE did not look to me that Slocombe touched their player, more an impressive high dive by the attacker. If an appeal is possible it will surely be successful, but if not and the lad has to start on Tuesday he will have myself and another 8000 gasheads giving him our full support. UTG! We don't know the reason he was sent off but did Slocombe handle the ball in the challenge.just a thought

I too was a keeper. And until he plays in a game nowt else matters. I'm not looking for an argument, I'm stating a fact. To me and those around me he looked pretty cool when he came on. Any nerves he hid well. So stick your patronising jibe where the sun don't shine. It was an opinion which was different. If you don't like it don't read it. nowt else matters! Yeah why bother training etc... I didn't like it but couldn't ignore as when you reference something I said I'm standing my ground I'm afraid! Anyway moving on! UTG! Funny. You lost the argument about the prematch kick about, so now it's moved to training. Doubt you've ever seen him in training. But this was about the prematch kick about and nowt else. And in the prematch bit, it's only about loosening up, not winning trophies.

If Wycombe can put a 48 year old goalkeeping coach on the bench every week then we can survive with Mildy as the bench keeper whether its for one or three matches.

1971/72 Season
Rovers played away to Aston Villa on an Easter Monday. Due to an injury crisis Rovers selected apprentice keeper Richard Crabtree just a few weeks after his seventeenth birthday. The crowd was 45,158 and the young keeper gave an inspired performance during the 2-1 defeat.
2017/18 season
Alexis Andre is 20 years old and is a very good prospect - and deserves his chance against Oldham. It will also act as a major incentive to all members of the Development Squad. Mildy may be willing to come out of retirement as the "back-up" and provide further support for Alexis.

Age is no barrier. De Gea made his debut at 19 with Athletico and was at Man U a year later. Maybe you'll be able to say "I was there at his debut" when he wins a World Cup final.
