Totally agree - can't understand why any manager would want to change a team ( with the exception of BB of course) that's kept a clean sheet and scored six goals away from home - but Oxford's a different "project". Yesterday was a 'project' and we won 6-0 Really - I thought it was a game of football.

Agree with yesterday's assessment, particularly with Bola who offers something in both defence and attack. I would like to see the same back 4 against Oxford but I am also aware that we may yet again crumble when opposition pressure - I would like to see how this 4 deal with that. So would I. Simply because the other 4 have been nothing short of useless dealing with that.

Sorry guys but i disagree. I was surprised yesterday at how poor Northampton were. Their forwards backed off our inexperieced centre backs instead of bullying them. Most of the time Roly had no one to man mark.
Yes he did well but he had the luxury of more time than he would normally get and i think that its a case of " we got away with it".
I do agree that we need a more vocal leader and organiser and both Partington and Broadbent do well in that area.
Browny is good but yesterday Bola was real class. Do you risk watering off Browner long term or do we alternate?

Peter Parker, look at when 4 of them attacked the ball at Pompey and all missed the header, great talking.
Our defence this season hasn’t talked or organised as a unit, I don’t make this up, I’ve seen a lot of games where they have been all over the place.
Yesterday they attacked the ball and won their headers and worked as a unit. Defenders are paid to win headers and clear the ball.

Our inexperienced defence put in a great shift, and conceded no goals, great performance. Lockyer and Sweeney have made too many mistakes "fact" . I would be happy to see joe broadbent Rollins Marc play against Ox, why not ?

Captain calamity again with Sweeney, never known an undroppable centre half like Lockyer, I now call him the common denominator.

Simple answer - A defender with experience at division one level would be a starting point. Remember Kevin Moore ( R.I.P from Southampton in 1992 ) ?. What about Steve Elliott's organisation and his experience from Derby ? And Andy Tilson ?. Yes we can mix loans youth and enthusiasm but we need a grey haired veteran who's been about..

A defensive coach is surely required now!

Drop Lockyer and Sweeney & give Broadbent and Meyenese a run in the side. O forgot Lockyer is un-dropable. Hmm

We had the same problems last season with the same defence. I recall in two weeks we lost 4-0 to Millwall 5-1 Charlton and let in 3 at Chesterfield . The board needs to make available some cash in January and we need a 100 plus appearance division one defender. We are too inexperienced ..

Strong commanding old school type centre half required, a Steve Elliott type, a Tillson, christ even that Ted Flint would be ideal!

Can’t agree with the managers comments tonight. He said the same shape as Northampton but in the last 2 games we have let in 5 with two different defensive pairings.
